Chad ochoseis Old-Timey Member Posted April 1 Posted April 1 Freddy Peralta pitches for the Mets, who will try to make this day different from all other days by putting bat on ball when runners are on base.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 1 Posted April 1 So I guess you're saying we shouldn't pass this one over? Chad ochoseis 1

stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted April 1 Posted April 1 Anyone in the Long Beach, NY area, I’m running a film fest, and catching glimpses of the Met game…when its on, at Bright Eye Beer on 50 W Park

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 1 Posted April 1 I know Keith was hurting, but was he expected to head out mid-series, or is Zeile a sudden late addition?
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted April 1 Posted April 1 The latter. Monday it was announced that Zeile would join in SF. Tuesday that was changed to Keith also missing today’s game.

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 1 Posted April 1 You know Keith won't want to miss the SF trip, hope he's better
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted April 1 Posted April 1 Matthew Liberatore is perfect in his first time through the lineup. Come on offense. Wake up.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 1 Posted April 1 Notable that there is no backup designated jock traveling with the team for such situations. It would have been interesting if J.D. Martinez got pressed into emergency service on his first full day on the payroll.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted April 1 Posted April 1 I know it feels like Lindor is hitting .150 on May 1 every year and still winds up getting MVP votes by the end, but crikey.

Weird how they are again shut down by the opposition with a paucity of strikeouts needed. Like it's 1980 or something. The Mets have had some hard hit balls find gloves yesterday and today. No remarkable plays, but solid defense from the Cardinals all around. I might misremember but I think two of the Mets hits yesterday came on soft contact.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 1 Posted April 1 Gary just stated that the only other Met to get his first Mets win on Opening Day was Johan Santana. He must mean among newcomers or among starters, because I don't think that's true. I'm pretty sure Doug Sisk walked away with his first win on OD 1983 in relief of Seaver.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 1 Posted April 1 Swaggy can't be held down for long. Not against Liberatore.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 1 Posted April 1 3 minutes ago, Centerfield said: My gamecast said he doubled to SS. He doubled past the thirdbaseman, but it ricocheted off the cutout back toward Winn, so that is ... technically accurate.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 1 Posted April 1 The game is following an important Mets rule , which says the number 1 starter does not get any run support. Later
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 1 Posted April 1 He got plenty of run support his last start, of course.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted April 1 Posted April 1 Lot of sloppy play recently, and it’s on Mendoza to get this cleaned up.
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted April 1 Posted April 1 The Mets offense is really pathetic. Gary calls a HR by Soto one pitch before he hits a sky scraper in the RF corner. Mets 1 Cardinals 0 in the top of the 6th
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted April 1 Posted April 1 Soto not running that one out felt ugly. Come on, fellas. Get it together.
