  1. This is well worth a look to get a sense of relative sprint speeds. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/leaderboard/sprint_speed
  2. it could well be a wait and see zone. Having seen someone tear a calf (Grade 3) on the pitch he definitely didn't do that. If he'd done that he wouldn't have got near scoring a run. So you're probably in the zone where it's going to be somewhere between 3-6 weeks and they'll only know more when they know more. 1 day - even with an MRI - is not a lot of time to figure out how long muscle is going to take to repair.
  3. sorta sped watched this, over the morning. Crazy game. Totally inconsequential but did anyone else notice the catcher microphone being too high in the mix for the first few innings at least.
  4. in a fit of irrational enthusiasm I paid for MLB.TV in one go this year. I'm suspecting my games watched is going to be low even in comparison to other years. every night game involves me being awake at 00.05 or so which is tricky enough at the best of times.
  5. at least that explains his bad pitching! What's Devin's excuse?
  6. i can't remember what I thought at the time, but this Polanco signing is looking more and more like a Jason Bay/Michael Cuddyer clusterfuck
  7. This isn’t true any more ! it’s a maximum of five times in a season before they need to be exposed to waivers https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/3201371/2022/03/23/for-a-handful-of-players-mlbs-new-limit-on-minor-league-options-will-reduce-the-whirlwind-of-callups/?source=user_shared_article&unlocked_article_code=1.blA.fW1K.4ZPTXBnUjzcm&smid=ta-ios-share
  8. I like the Atlanta one except for the fact that it is an Atlanta one! Never heard the expression "Wisco" for Wisconsin but then I do live the other side of the Atlantic.
  9. 70 pitches for Manaea in 4 innings.... at least he's getting his work in.
  10. it's up for anyone to go for it to try and start a new streak.
  11. Juan Soto is on IL for 2-3 weeks with a right calf strain Suspect he needs to show signs of life by this Mike Tauchman is recovering from surgical repair of a torn meniscus in his left knee - Likely out until mid-late May. and be viable OF by this.
  12. Why does mlb.tv wait right until the 1st pitch to join ….
  13. I'm a fair way from being convinced by Williams, but it's way too soon to be too worried either.
  14. No idea! Where's the KTE when we need one. I like the pitches by the pen last 5 days thing.
  15. good for those of us five hours ahead :)
  16. Well he’s was out due to the thumb so might be sore enough to cause him not to be able to field easily as well
  17. Was only looking at the 4 man bench quizzically earlier thinking it’s really hard to play with a day to day injury guy. what about Nolan McLean reprising his college career
  18. i'd be cautious about any first couple of weeks judgements, but David Stearns has to be sweating a little. None of Bichette, Semien or Polanco are hitting at all. he could use one of them having an OPS that feels like an OPS rather then an OBP.
  19. any word on how long the rain delay is looking like?
  20. I'm not sure how this quoting thing has worked but I only meant to quote metirish once! Anyway I hate the way VAR is currently working in football. Trying to freeze frame tackles to definite intent, looking at handballs in minute detail and so on. However this is a straightforward yes no being produced within a prompt period and could/should stop all the arguing.
  21. I don't mind. I think it is good to eliminate the terrible call when it's easy and the times I've seen it so far have shown me it hasn't felt too intrusive.
