  1. For the long term future of the mets, there is virtually no chance that this would be a good thing. This is the biggest problem with rewarding people through a draft situation for failure. It is exasperated by the luxury tax penalisations, which mean the Mets are "top 6 or bust" but it drives me crazy that it is a good thing to finish last, once you know you can't finish in the playoff places. I know relegation isn't a runner but at least stop rewarding failure.
  2. I can't be 100% sure, but I strongly suspect PJ wouldn't be singing God Save The King as his national anthem (he's probably more likely to sing The Star Spanlged Banner I suppose) and he's entitled to an Irish passport. I saw raise the tricolour and be damned ;)
  3. I'm keeping Ewing first - I think. Being better in CF means the bat doesn't need to be as good to make an impact.
  4. @Cowtipper Without getting into the politics it would make sense to change PJ Conlon from "United Kingdom" to "Ireland".
  5. what about PJ Conlon, born in Ireland!
  6. shortstop was his prime position. Good fielding light hitting type of fella
  7. I'm trying to remember a Ray/Rey who was of Latin American birth or extraction who played for los bravos for a bit I think, played for us and I'm fairly certain has a utility year at the yankees it is driving me mad that i can't remember hiis name.
  8. the problem is both Mendoza and even Stearns are now operating as if every loss could be their last, it means they're making bad decisions for the fear of being exposed. Leaving McLean in is a good example of this from Mendoza, there's no bigger disaster for a manager then pulling the starter for the bullpen to implode, so you hope to just get one more out from him, one more out...
  9. Yes, after waiting for the second half to resume for an hour, I’m hitting the hay!
  10. having broken rib in a football match last november it is a really tricky injury to recover from. . I was back playing matches in January but was very conscious of it till mid february at the earliest and I still feel it a little at times today
  11. that was a fun game - I was only watching on the phone so didn't get a great chance to see what I thought of Safeco Field, but definitely enjoyed Dante Bichette coming to the party.
  12. it has been mentioned on the broadcast and maybe elsewhere - but the horrendous number of west coast trips this early in the season must be some kind of record - the fact that they're finished them by the 7th of June has to be very unusual ! Season Last West Coast road trip ended 2023 Aug. 6 2024 Sept. 1 2025 July 27
  13. and those of us on the east of the atlantic can get a rare sighting of Safeco (now T-Mobile) Field in the wild.
  14. I'm proud of that one ;)
  15. I'll be honest I was just trying to remember who hit some home runs for us when he was on the Braves. Can't say it was anything other then that!
