  1. I've been thinking on it while mowing the lawn. Trying to remember as many long tenured starting pitchers of the 1960, 1970s. and early 1980's. When starters didn't go 5 innings and call it a day. I don't think there are any current pitchers that will make the list, but I may be wrong. I hope to take a shot at it later tonight.
  2. Then he would be a perfect fit for this Mets lineup.
  3. I'm not sure if you are looking for a guess from any of us. The first name that popped into my head was Nolan Ryan
  4. Hip impingement is due to the head of the femur not aligning properly within the socet of the pelvis bone. Causes pain, discomfort and limited mobility. If left untreated it can lead to damage of the surrounding cartilage and eventual arthritis. Generally treated with rest, NSAID, steroid injections of the joint and physical therapy to strengthen the surrounding muscles. In the most severe cases, surgical repair to reshape the bone for a better ball & socket fit may be required or to repair damage.
  5. I the Mets are going to need a lot of innings from the bullpen, as on most Senga starts. Singe will likely look like a Cy Young contender against the Mets feeble line up. There are far to many players in the Mets line up that are hitting below .225 with OBP below .300. Team average of .229 with a team OBP .295 . For the season, the Mets have struck out 592 times in 2401 at bats (24.66%). It's very hard to build a consistent offense around such ineptness.
  6. The difference in this game is a microcosm of the Mets season. The Reds with bases loaded draw a run scoring walk followed by a grand slam. The Mets managed to load the bases on three occasions and not surprisingly failed to score. The first time the Mets loaded the bases they produced an infield fly rule pop up to the shortstop followed by a strike out on a slider in the dirt to end the inning. The next inning the Mets again have bases loaded with one out and they foul out to first baseman and fly out to right center to again leave the bases loaded. But wait, there's more, they loaded the bases for a third time with one out, then proceed to strike out and hit a weak dribbler to second base to end yet another pathetically inept display of offensive futility. The Mets were 1-12 in RISP and even one hit, Bichette's clean single to left center did not score a run because Melendez paused half way to third base to watch the ball in the outfield. Absolutely horrible, clueless base running which cost him a base and prevented him from scoring. It is the continuous mental errors and bad fundamentals that make this team very difficult for me to watch.
  7. Grand Slam by Suarez to make it 9-0. Good night all. I have better things to do with my time than watch this mess.
  8. i too decided to watch for the first time since the opening game against St. Louis last Tuesday. Already wondering how long before I give up and go read my book.
  9. Struggling Reds offense puts up a 3 spot on Meyers (and still batting) after Saurez 2 run HR
  10. Reds pull off the double steal. Seemed to surprise Alvarez who attempted to throw out the trail runner from his knees. The aggressiveness pays off with a run on a chopper to Baty at third. Can't give up much with Burns on the mound for the Reds.
  11. It seems that the Mets went into this deal with the thought that it would be a 1 years rental. Why else would you offer a $5 mil. bonus to opt out after year one? If your truly wanted him to stay you would offer a $5 mil. bonus not to opt out. I think this was a quick, emergency, safe facing move once the Mets (Stearns) missed on Kyle Tucker. I liked landing Bichette, but I didn't like the terms the Mets gave to land him. Smelled of desperation.
  12. Nice to have all our history accessible once again.
  13. Hey pass the bottle this way. I want some of whatever Cowtipper is drinking.
  14. I don't have Apple TV either. I likely wouldn't watch anyway. I am basically tired of watching their offensive futility most nights. I just watch the highlights/lowlights with my coffee the next morning.
  15. well, they are pretty much dead.
  16. As soon as he makes an appearance and pitches an inning, they will option him back to Syracuse and bring Gerber back. Baseball needs to make some changes, this constant turn over is ridiculous. I would rather they just expand the active roster to 28 players and put a limit on the number of times a players can be sent up and down with it being injury related.
  17. I watched the first 6 innings, then turned it off. I can take a team losing, I have a hard time watching a team that regularly not competitive at the plate. Far too many swing and miss guys. The only players that I actually enjoy watching bat are Soto, Benge, Ewing, and Young. I enjoy watching Ewing, Benge, Torrens and Semien play defense. Beyond that I find little that interests me now.
  18. The Cardinals shortstop, Winn, has an absolute gun for an arm. He damn near took Alvarez's head off turning a double play.
  19. Marlins Loan Depot Park
  20. Well, in fairness, if you were living off post-game highlights, then it would be easy to miss out on Slaters brief time with the Mets. There weren't many highlights to his time, but he definitely had more than Ibanez.
  21. Since checking in on Santucci in mid April, he seems to have righted the ship in his last 8 starts. He has still had some rough outings, but his overall numbers are trending up. In those 8 starts, he pitched 40.2 innings and produced a WHIP of 1.180 His walk rate is down significantly 16 (3.54 / 9 IP) as is his K rate, but 45 (9.96 /9 IP) is still solid. He only surrendered 2 HR's in his 40.2 innings of work which is outstanding. Hopefully, he will continue to keep pitching well and he can hopefully make it to Syracuse before the season is out.
  22. Looks a little like Fenway.
  23. Adell took that one off his glove then headed it (ala Jose Conseco) over the fence.
