  1. Mrs Lefty says, "if they trade Lindor, I'm out". She's not happy about all the rumblings. With the material they have to trade, I don't see how they get anything decent or helpful back. You'd be selling low on virtually everybody.
  2. Bases loaded, no out. How will they avoid scoring?
  3. Welp, it was overdue but it won't change things. This was always a flawed roster. Andy Green isn't going to be able to do much more with it than Carlos Mendoza did. They do, however, seem to be sleepwalking right now.
  4. Kind of amazing no one's been fired yet. But this team was put together, like so many Mets teams have, on a bunch of 'ifs'. If they stay healthy and have good seasons we'll be in the thick of it. (Polanco, Senga) If he bounces back to his old form (Roberts, Manaea, Semien).... If they're not as bad as they seemed last year (Peterson, Vientos) If they just play up to the back of their baseball card (Soto, Lindor, Bichette, Peralta) These were all 'ifs' calculated by the POBO. They all pretty much went south. So it's on him. I think for Uncle Steve, this year is a sunk cost. They're not turning it around, that's obvious. So sell off what parts you can and Roto-Rooter the whole organization this winter. There may not be baseball in 2027 anyway, which may be a blessing in disguise for this team.
  5. Always nice to take a series from the Braves and cut their lead to a mere 14 games.
  6. Attended today in Section 414. It was, as Buster Poindexter liked to say, Hot, Hot, Hot. Ball was flying , as the 5 HR's would indicate. Getting blown out in the previous two games meant the good part of the bullpen was fresh. Soto kind of Cadillac-ed it around the bases on his homer, but that's why you pay him $51 million a year, I guess. And the Mets soccer jersey was cool. It's even adult-sized, unlike many things they give away. Attendance was sparse (school not out yet, a day game during the week, and did I mention Hot. hot, hot?) But a good day all around.
  7. To get to 90 wins, they'd need to go 61-36 the rest of the way., which is .628 ball. Just don't see that happening. .A .600 pace gets you to 87 wins, probably not enough. Since the end of the 12-game losing streak, they've gone 22-20, a .524 pace. Keep that up and you're looking at roughly an 80-82 record.
  8. Well, that was nice. Benge living up to his billing- in every step towards the bigs he started slow then turned it on. He seems to be getting comfortable now. And nice outfield defense all around.
  9. So, they were good for a week but now it's back to being the Same Old Shitty Mets.
  10. Wow! That was quick! 2-0! Rackytack alert....
  11. Caught it on the replay, Bichette's hit was on a 40.2 mph curveball from Rivas. That's like slow-pitch softball.
  12. So, is this the Vidal Brujan game? Confusion about the position player rule!
  13. Well, this frees up my summer......
  14. Wrong time to post this, after a sweep where they looked pretty good against a team that's playing poorly right now. They can probably limp back to .500 at some point because there's a lot of talent here. But they could just as easily be 20 under because they can't sustain any offense. The answers you get to this question might look a little different if they get swept by the Yankees.
  15. This is the kind of baseball I'd hoped they would be playing. But they have to keep doing it for a sustained period and I don't know if they have it in them. We've seen flashes of offense followed by games they score 1 run on three hits.
  16. Love him or hate him, he was a helluva manager.
  17. Tommy John surgery upcoming....
  18. Not optimistic. Not as bad as they looked during the streak, but not good. Just don't see them playing the sustained stretch of good ball that would get them back in the playoff conversation.
  19. Turns out it was the OTHER ankle that gave out on Correa.
  20. Stop me if you heard this before.....but the Mets offense appears to have missed the flight to Denver.
  21. The drop in velocity tells you Manaea is hurt. Peterson, sheesh, I dunno. Mendoza NOT getting fired after last night means he's probably going to last out the season, whatever fresh hell that brings for him and us.
  22. I'm not the biggest fan of Mendoza, but this is Stearns' team. He's the one who let players walk and made bad trades. The blame rests mostly with him. But it'll be Mendoza getting it in the neck eventually.
  23. Seems just a little fishy to me.
