metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2022 Posted August 7, 2022 Damn yo, these Mets is a good team. But still. Mets fans gotta be smarter than to poke karma in the eye by trying to start up a tomahawk cop. Have we learned nothing from our collective history?!
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2022 Posted August 7, 2022 What a weekend. But yeah, fuck off with the chop. That's bullshit even in jest.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2022 Posted August 7, 2022 The first two sliders Jake threw today were clocked at just under 96 MPH - the hardest thrown sliders ever clocked by Statcast.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2022 Author Posted August 7, 2022 So with Jake being pulled when he was, who thought to themselves: 'Let's go with Joely for the next seven outs'?Sometimes I think Buck can intentionally make the elevator go up even by pushing the down button.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2022 Posted August 7, 2022 18 straight swings and misses on the slider.....that's otherworldly. I was happy with 2 of 3 in Atlanta, but this is a whole nother level.Jake and Max well-rested for October makes one drool with anticipation.

He never did. Like they say, in Buck we trust..
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2022 Author Posted August 7, 2022 Between the 4-1 series result on top of the Yanx getting swept by StL, this was like a long weekend version of Super-Triple-Happiness.Mets & Yanx now have identical records (70 - 39)When July started the Yanx were 8.5 games ahead.

Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2022 Posted August 7, 2022 And don't look now, but the Braves are only 3 ahead of the Phillies in the Wild Card race, 2 in the loss column.

Having the 1st or 2d best record of the 3 division winners (the Mets are currently 9 1/2 up on STL)means3. Getting a first-round bye (6 or 7 days off).

We'll see. Jake deGrom retires the first 17 batters he faces, 12 on strikeouts. He also threw the fastest slider ever recorded. Twice. I guess all of that was also fluky.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2022 Author Posted August 7, 2022 There was a maybe four or five second shot of Strider cursing up a storm into his glove (at least I assume that's what he was doing) after one of those hits. That was maybe the best shot in the entire game.

MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2022 Posted August 8, 2022 If somebody asks about the fans doing a tomahawk chop, just tell them is was actually a referee counting over a knocked down fighter.Later
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2022 Author Posted August 8, 2022 ^ Even Felix thinks that's funny!^^^It would have been great if there was a hot mic near Strider when he let loose a string of ranting following Pete's off-the-base double. Not that they could have put it on the air. Let's just say he wasn't pleased at the result.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2022 Posted August 8, 2022 This series had a 1969 Cubs series feel to it. I watched the Cubs series with my dad and realize how much I still miss him.
