  1. I don’t think the players are quite possibly this bad. something is wrong in the clubhouse. Which could be a player problem of course and not a manager problem necessarily, but it falls on the manager to fix it - and he’s clearly not doing that. maybe nobody can but it’s time to try someone different. the team has had three deep stretches like this in his tenure. it’s time to put a stop to it. (and I’m usually not a fire the manager type guy!)
  2. So… maybe yes he can possibly be worse…?
  3. That don’t look so good does it. but there wasn’t a whole lot of interest in him overall. Big worries about his swing and miss. Otherwise he’d be somewhere other than the south side.
  4. I also wonder how Mendoza still has the job. not that he’s necessarily a bad manager or has the wrong messaging, because I think he’s exuding a message of calmness and what not. But goddamn it is not resonating with this group of overly-pressing try-hards.
  5. Nobody likes smart guys. They seem like know it alls and people like to root for know it alls to be wrong, even when they are actually smart people who know a lot. me I want my gm and pobo to be dumb as rocks.
  6. I am always optimistic. Always. sometimes it’s the only way I can get through the day. the team is better than they have played. mind you, I might need to move the goalposts of what my optimism is about… like… winning the division perhaps… but I’m optimistic about… something.
  7. I think it’s all about approach. I also think that one of the biggest problems is Lindor, in that with Lindor, he’s always far too willing to take the burden onto his own shoulders, instead of spreading and reinforcing a message of trusting your teammates and doing the job together. I mean, accountability is great, but I feel like he’s always _too_ accountable, and that gets to be infectious in a bad way. relax. Trust your brother in metly arms. Go out and have fun.
  8. Piazza definitely got Clemens, but… ohhhhh…. Sorry. not sorry. piazza - maddux
  9. Nobody is out there asking for the human element when they’re out there timing Olympic sprinters. “ooh, lane 6 has Jenkins, notorious for his slow stopwatch. Tough draw that one. Timing lane three is McNurtle, who always times off the shoulders not the chest - the runner’ll be wise to use his lean to proper advantage!” could you imagine how outrageous that would be? The umpires are there to get the calls correct - to accurately adjudicate the outcome of the play, not to offer their subjective interpretation of the rules.
  10. As a closer, Trevor Hoffman did pretty well for himself with the changeup, I think.
  11. Expecting a clean outing from Peterson. Show us what you’re capable of. looking forward for the metsies to put the ball into the sun some more, too. Little bit lower angle today so ya gotta smash those line drives!
  12. Fucking let’s go, Mets! LFGMforever
  13. I went 91-95. Put me down for 92. They could end up with a bunch more… or a whole lot less.
  14. I like having the piggyback to work the 6 starters through the rotation. Keeps more bullpen arms fresh.
