This is for your Stephen Rooting Interest, not who you think will win but who you WANT to win.

There is only one acceptable answer but "You must enter at least two poll options".

I went with 'Astros' but I'm not dreading the possibility of a potential Nats win as much as some seem to be doing here.

I understand YOUR feelings here but you're the one who has to live in that area. The only real Nats fans I know are a set of cousins in Herndon, VA

Cousin Kerrie married a guy who played in both in HS and college so that clan is really the only extended family I have who are baseball fans and they

latched onto the Nats and a partial season ticket plan soon after the team's arrival. Rick will be a bit obnoxious about it if given the chance but I don't

see them often enough to worry about it and I'm not on FACEBOOK so I'll survive.

And there's also a reluctance to want to see a 93-win team over one who won 107 (unless you happen to be one of the '93' guys).

Mostly I'm just rooting for a well-played seven game series where maybe an occasional sub-four-hour game is thrown in (just to change things up a bit).

Unless it is either team that left New York, I always root for the National League team.

Almost always pull for the National League. The White Sox were the rare exception.

My position tends to be that Houston is a National League town imprisoned in the American League, and Washington is an American League city that has been subject a ritual shunning by the American League.

“Hey, Astros, can you do me a solid and vanquish my enemy? Oh, if you do, I'll root against you right after.”

Nah, I can't be that way.

When I don't have a dog in the fight, I tend to root for the underdog. And since the Nationals have never won anything, they're clearly the team that would end a long drought. Plus, since I went to college in Virginia, I have a lot of friends in the DC area who are Nats fans, so it would be nice for them. That being said, I like the Astros, they're definitely the best team of this generation, and I wouldn't feel sour if they won. So mostly I'm looking forward to a good series that I can enjoy because loathsome teams like the Dodgers, Cardinals, and Yankees won't be participating.

The Houston Colt-'45s/Astros were actually my first least favorite team.

My young head understood that the Mets, being a relatively new expansion team, weren't expected to be good like all those clubs who had all that time to gather and nurture players.

But it bugged me that we were constantly behind our expansion partner in the standings that I'd look at each day and that there were always more of their guys towards the top of the

comprehensive Batting Leaders list the Sunday NYTimes published each week (because how, if not for Batting Average, were you supposed to judge players?). So in addition to rooting

for the Mets to do well, there was always a side look in those tables towards hoping that the Astros team, as well as various individual Astros, were faring poorly.

I eventually got over it. Certainly a lot better than Astros fans have gotten over '86

While I appreciate that the Nats got rid of the Dodgers, the Astros performed the greater public service and will be rewarded with my continued support for the next week or so.

As usual in these things, it comes down to my own perverse dislikes. I'm from Texas, with roots in Austin and San Antonio, so of course I despise the rest of the state, especially Houston and Dallas. I can't help it; it's how I was brought up. But I've never disliked the Astros, even when they wore those rainbow clown suits that people are so nostalgic about now. I hated them for a week in 1986, but they seemed like good guys. Mike Scott was a big cheater, though.

And have nothing at all against DC. What happened to Montreal was wrong, but I was actually happy to see a team in Washington. And I love the name they chose--so retro, so plain, and so appropriate (though the Washington Feds would be even better). But somewhere along the line they started to rub me wrong. Partly it's just because they got good while the Mets were bad. When Davey was the manager I didn't hold it against them. But then they stayed good, despite the string of doofuses that succeeded him. And Harper was their star. That was too much, and I'm not going to forgive them just because Harper's with a team I dislike ever more now. Also, their announcers are the worst.

Go 'Stros!

For me, it's pretty simple.

I love the American League team that has beaten the Yankees two of the last three years. Altuve, Correa...cool color scheme. These guys rock.

But this team. I didn't really like them. Roided up cheaters. What colors are they even wearing? Navy? Gold? Eh. Not for me.

Y'know what's cool about this? That Yanqui fans paid so little mind to the NL over the years (not worthy of their attention) to the point where prior to the Astros transfer to the AL, and really prior

to that era when Clemens & Pettitte were ping-ponging back and forth between the two teams, I'd bet that a significant portion* of Yanqui fans had either no idea what the Houston ball-club was

named or whether or not there was even an MLB team in that town.

They know now.

* I'm thinking maybe 70%. I'd go higher but some probably knew from playing fantasy teams that used both leagues

I'm just delighted that the Astros got through. My anyone but order goes

Braves

Yankees

Phillies

Nats

after that I tend not to be bothered but

Cardinals always irk me

and I'm not mad on the Cubs.

after that point it comes down to players/managers

so for example, Not mad on Brewers because of Ryan Braun but like Lorenzo Cain.
