HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 zI guess we're the only team that can't hit Gordon.

nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 i had to miss the end of the game, i hate schoenweis.
Guest Number 6 Guests Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 Don't blame just him. You'd think .316/.382/.574, his 2007 numbers against righties, would maybe suggest to the bench that he shouldn't be in to face 3 in a row. Also, to be fair, Delgado torpedoed a possible double play by hitting Utley in the back.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 yeah he shouldnt be in there except as a lefty specialist. its possible theres no room for that on the roster, and i'd be fine if he were off the roster
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 I didn't see the game today, but from what I followed on Gamecast, this team looks A LOT like the team that finished up last year again today. Is everyone waiting for everyone to pick everyone up everyday?

Then again, probably the same type of brainstorming that generated: "Lets have an apple pop out of a top hat whenever a Met hits a home run".I hope I never get that grumpy. Like you wouldn't sit next to the wax dummy and take a picture? Try to enjoy your life.

Bret would have a field day with that one.

Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 As Schoeneweis was warming up, my neighbors and I were debating whether it was better to have Smith face a lefty to lead off or to bring in Schoeneweis to force the burning of the PH, but also have to face Rollins and Victorino. We all managed to agree on Smith facing Dobbs to lead off as the better choice, knowing that if Smith didn't get out 1-2-3 then Schoeneweis was available for Utley and Howard.Granted, he should've been out of the inning with only 1 run of damage, but still. Not a good choice.Anyone catch why Rollins left the game?Crowd was not particularly friendly to the Mets. Boos for Sosa, Schoeneweis and Heilman all in the pregame introductions. Several fights -- of the full-throttle punches being thrown variety -- in various levels of the stadium. The overwhelming feeling in the building was that people are still very pissed off about last year.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 Heilman getting booed?Fans are morons.
Guest mario25 Guests Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 I hate our bullpen....Heilman is no stopper in the eighth inning,Schowenweis is terrible, Sosa is bad too....they are not the stoppers you need in a good bullpen....

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 I'm watching the replay and Kevin Burkhardt is interviewing Governor Patterson asking him of his memories of Shea stadium....I thought he was going to regale us with stories of past trysts in the Shea parking lot with hookers or of scoring dope there but no he told a nice story of his Dad taking him to Shea the night before it opened and asking the guys there if his legally blind son could walk the field, they let him.
Guest mario25 Guests Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 Relief pitching is a tough job I understand that, but the Mets need some dependable relief and as I have watched the past few years Heilman has had good days but he has given up a ton of huge hits in big situations. I think the pre injury season of Duaner Sanchez was great. I hate to say it (being how much I despise the scumbag Yankees) but the Mets need a Joba Chamberlain 8th inning guy. Sosa is a journeyman pitcher at his best and Heilman will not relish the role cause he wants to start. Schoenweis is ok against lefties and should be a lefty specialist. Everybody loves Heilman but I have seen a ton of bombs given up in big games....
Guest Grote15 Guests Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 If this team is 22-26 about May remember Willie was not Omar's hire. Can we trade Schnieder, Church, and a bag of balls for LoDuca, Milledge and Manny Acta..I know its early, but Castillo is shot..
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 I like Acta too but why is he the anointed one to get the job at Shea , didn't Minaya hire Randolph?
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2008 Author Posted April 8, 2008 Yes, Minaya definitely hired Randolph.
