Cool Beans.

Tom Kelly:  Dorkiest manager ever?

And I earned a Dollar Dog Night badge.  The Mets never do Dollar Dog nights.  Cheap-ass Wilpons.

On Thursdays you can go to a Syracuse Mets games and get $1 sodas, $2 hot dogs and $3 beers.  I attend quite a few every year

Place is already looking much better than when I initially signed in yesterday.  It was virtually all Minnesota Twins posts and news.

Glad to see so many familiar "faces" have made the move.

Yeah, I was half tempted to bitch and moan about being the MFY’s bitch all those years in the 2000s and 2010s and how lack of multiple deep postseason runs (they did make one ALCS IIRC, off hand I think it was losing to the White Sox in ‘05) was a factor in the lack of HOF support Johan Santana got! ;)

I will probably get used to it, but ... so much white.  I am used to the subtle color variations between the main content area and the sidebars, and it helps me to intuit what is what and where to look for things.  Even a hard rule betwen columns helps.

Also, as to Irish's note above, yeah, I think there is some intuition that expects us to go back to the forum/subforum we are in after hitting "Submit."

That may or may not be a niggling complaint based on what we are used to.

Similarly, the breadcrumbs at the top of a thread or a subforum, helping us get back to where we are, are in such a light gray that I am forced to peel my eyeballs to read.  Can they be in a more contrasting color?  Perhaps a Metly orange (xFF5910)?

Honestly, a lot of informational and navigational text is in that gray.

I agree that there's an awful lot of white. Maybe putting a light shaded background on the posts and the forum listings would help, as would a more distinctive separator between posts. And I also agree that the pale grey navigational text would be better if darker and bolder.

Edgy, you could try dark mode.  It's that circle up there that's half black half white.

Oh yeah, dark mode looks better to me too

I didn't like that when I post it doesn't go back to the main page of the forum I'm in , but instead to my reply

The page doesn't go anywhere; it dynamically loads your post into the page. That's why it doesn't take you anywhere, there isn't actually a page load during a reply, it just adds the reply to the end of the thread.

Ok, I don't like that, would rather it loads back to the forum

It's a give-and-take situation, like most things. Editing in-line on a page is faster, and reduces scrolling. It's also lighter on the server, and speeds up the site. The downside is that you're not taken back to the forum page.

Thanks to cooby, I am now Mr. Dark Mode, embracing a world observed only through my obsidian lens.

I apologize if I miss anyone passing me by, for we are all but shadows.

I noticed that there is no way to reply to the older threads. In the non baseball forums. I’d like to be able to update the prospect threads, not just add a new one.

I’ve started to notice the cute little up arrow to the left of my screen when I’m in the lower reaches of a thread. I gotta say I like how that brings me right back up to the top of the page.

At the CPF when you finished reading a thread the color would change ,this was a good way of knowing whether I am up to date in a thread or not

You can look at the star or the dot to the left of the topic title. If it's bright orange, there are unread posts. And if it's dim, you're caught up. Same is true of the individual forums. If the icon next to the subforum title is dim, then there are no unread threads in that subform.

I agree with the 'it's too white in here' sentiment.

Perhaps a road-greys backround?

For the record, this design is now nearing five years old (how is that possible?), and a redesign is in the works. We were supposed to have it done already but delays keep pushing it back.

I expect the white background will go away in favor of a mild grey.

I just noticed there's still a Twins reference on top of the Forums page.
