Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 Among the graces a Met fan can find in the 2010 season --- and there were some, make no mistake --- is that it was among the rookiest years ever for the team. Not only did a lot of players make their first (or first meaningful) appearances in a big league uniform, other near-rookies like Nick Evans and Luis Hernandez were contributing by the end. And these weren't all dead wood, either. While many won't be back, a few cemented spots for themselves and several others provided teases enough to squeeze their way into the periphery of the grand plan. When asked about having a solid 1984 rookie campaign in the same year as Dwight Gooden, no less than Ron Darling shrugged his shoulders philosophically and said, "I don't think there's ever been a rookie like Dwight." And so we name our inaugural Crane Pool award honoring the outstanding Mets rookie in honor of Dwight Eugene Gooden of Tampa, Florida, owner of the coolest rookie season in Mets history, as we invite you pick the top five outstanding rookies of the Mets' 2010 season. We will award five points for first, four for second, etc. The leading point-getter is YOUR Mets 2010 Dwight Gooden Award for Outstanding Mets Rookie.Candidates:NAMEGPHABR2B3BHRRBITBBBSOSBCSBAOBPSLGOPSGPGSWLSVQSHLDIPHERHRBBSOK/9P/GSWHIPERAJoaquin Arias226305100472600.200.250.233.483Chris Carter10044167159042465121712.263.317.389.706Ike Davis1471385237333119712307213832.264.351.440.791Lucas Duda29178411604133562200.202.261.417.678Jesus Feliciano54251081241033161210.231.276.287.563Dillon Gee52120100130800.167.167.250.417552205033258215174.6498.201.212.18Ryota Igarashi34000000000000.000.000.000.0003401100230.12924418257.420.001.557.12Jenrry Mejia33131000010100.333.333.333.66733304002394620320225.0873.001.694.62Fernando Martinez73181000231501.167.273.167.439Mike Nickeas52100000020500.200.200.200.400Jonathon Niese311053320041282700.189.295.226.52130309100140173.21928120621487.6798.201.464.20Tobi Stoner1000000000000.000.000.000.00010010002.1310100.000.001.713.86Hisanori Takahashi531160000010300.063.063.063.12553121068631221164913431148.4192.501.303.61Ruben Tejada78462162812011561223822.213.305.282.588Josh Thole7356202177131774242510.277.357.366.723Justin Turner4181100021000.125.222.250.472Raul Valdes384101100150300.400.400.500.9003813310158.25932727568.5997.001.474.91

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 Well, we are asking for five votes per ballot.I'd be happy to addtinoally score it on a 5-3-1 scale, but I think the 5-4-3-2-1 system has I presented has its merits too.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 Oh, I didn't read that part.

Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 DavisNieseTakahashiTholeCarterSolidifying a starting defensive position-- and showing offensive promise, if not consistently good production-- trumps Niese's stellar 2/3 of a season and monthlong, year-end wet fart.Everyone else is playing for third. (And to those of you leaving the Animal off: the guy was our best pinch-hit threat in a decade and consumed somewhere near five cases of Red Bull for you in a couple of months... the least you can do is toss the man a bone.)
