  1. Present and appreciative of the work that got us here.
  2. Gary Sheffield, Marlins?
  3. As the poster who first proposed Willets Point, I still like it best. And not for nothing but Mets Grand Central feels/sounds better than Grand Central Mets to my ears.
  4. Is there a problem (trademark?) with using the Mets script?
  5. In a nod to an old poster, Willets Point Mets?
  6. Canha signed with Texas. I always like Tommy Pham and think Joey Lucchessi was badly under-utilized by the Mets.
  7. Mark Canha gets to sample the cuisine in Texas, inking a minor-league dealio with the Rangers.
  8. Bat Soto leadoff---he has the OBP and the ability to steal bases, and you want your best hitter to get the most at-bats. I saw the Mets social media posts, where the players hold cute chalkboards like they are kindergartners, this week. Vientos listed 1B/3B as his positions, and I think we see more of him at first than we'd like. Williams has to close, and he has to perform well.
  9. Verlander (back) to the Tigers. Thats a formidable rotation in Detroit!
  10. Glad to see the Pirates (and White Sox) making moves this off-season. It's good for their fans and for the game.
  11. I've soured alot on Alvarez. This is a make-or-break year for him in my estimation. I'm not holding out hope. And again, for all the talk about improving the team defense, having three guys (Polanco, Bichette, and Baty?) potentially play new positions on opening day does not inspire me.
  12. Seeing social media posts that Soto is leaning on the Mets to bring back his friend and mentor, Starling Marte. Could SM be this year's Iglesias and keep the clubhouse light?
  13. Two years ago the Mets gave HB $10.5M for a one year deal. With inflation, he has actually taken a relative paycut (although he earned less than $5M last year).
  14. Love, love this trade. I never thought Jett, at 5'7", would make it in the majors. Still don't. Tobias Myers is more than a throw-in. Peralta gives you innings and allows Manaea/Peterson/ Senga to be more comfortable (and appropriate) as mid-rotation pieces instead of front-liners. And this relieves pressure on McLean to be THE MAN.
  15. Yes, that is quite the sweetener.
  16. With Acuna gone I think they give one of the bench roles to a speedster as opposed to say, Jared Young. Was it Nick Morabito who has the best wheels in the system? Or am I conflating him with someone else?
  17. Five out of eight starters are new heading into 2026. If the clubhouse was an issue last year, its gonna be a whole new set of challenges for Mendoza this season. That's a lot of new personalities to manage... I'm glad it was Acuna and not Mauricio. I don't think Luisangel was ever going to be a regular--he was a "nice to have but not a must have." Now to address the staff
  18. It appears the plan is for Baty to be this year's McNeil--a versatile glove who can play reasonably well at multiple positions. Do we deal from our strengths/redundancies (Vientos, Mauricio) for a Jarred Duran/Lars Nootbaar centerfielder?
  19. For all the talk about how much emphasis they would place on defense this year, we are looking at two infielders playing our of position (Polanco at first and Bichette at third) and LF may be handed to Baty.
  20. Dodgers strike again. mother****er
  21. Reports now saying offer made with an AAV of $50M which equates to 3/150
  22. I have no idea how these things work but when the backup C is within a 125K of the starter it seems odd. Congratulations on the paydays, fellas.
