Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted yesterday at 03:06 AM Author Posted yesterday at 03:06 AM It’s the worst of all worlds. The season is likely over. Holmes can’t be traded. He will opt out anyway.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted yesterday at 03:35 AM Author Posted yesterday at 03:35 AM Mets have corrected the earlier report. It’s fractured fibula. Which appears to have a better recovery period. I’ll let Hot Corner weigh in.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago Either bone, looking at 3 months before he’d pitch in an MLB game. Decent chance he’s done for the year.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago Man this really sucks on many levels, really liked Holmes
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago Phooey. time to bring up wenninger…? MFS62 1
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago Eh, it's OK, it's not like he was our best pitcher this year, and there are plenty of obvious replacements is Jonah Tong who, in his last start, was dominant allowed seven runs in 1-1/3, plus Senga will be ready to return any day now in a few months and there's a good chance tiny long shot that he regains his All-Star form. seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago If it was possible to lose 200 games in a season, this team would do it. Casey Stengel 1

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago Reinforces the Biblical adage of feet of clay. As the toes were partly iron and partly clay, so this kingdom will be partly strong and partly brittle. But, of course, as long as they swing when I tell them not to swing in the ninth, it won't matter who is pitching.

Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago LOL and I just bought MLB.tv so I could watch the Mets. The Hot Corner 1
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago The good news is that it was a fibula fracture rather than a tibia fracture. The tibia is the primary weight bearing bone in the lower leg, while the fibula primarily serves as a stabilizer and primary site for muscle attachments. Due to the the difference in size and function, the recovery time for a fracture of the tibia and fibula can vary greatly. A fracture of the tibia generally requires 5-6 months for the bone to heal and to begin rebuilding the muscles. The bad news, is that a clean fracture of the fibula still requires 7-8 weeks for the bone to heal, then one can start to rebuild lost muscle strength. Either way, Clay Holmes is likely lost until early to mid August, not counting minor league starts to regain his arm strength. By then the Mets chances of making the playoffs will almost certainly be a distant memory.

Later There is nothing illogical about it. Gerber has completed his rehab assignment, and they won't need a starter for several days.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago Who's the guy who hasn't had a meaningful major league job in 3 years and is currently struggling in the minors that David Stearns will sign to replace him?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago This act of yours got old months ago.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Trying to carry over the feel from the old board.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago The 'feel' from the old board, as it has been for the past 26 years, is one of discussion. We haven't hung around this long by not giving a shit what each other thinks. Feel free to say whatever you want but also be prepared to discuss it and back up what you say if necessary. Yet, despite doing this act of mocking Stearns each time some minor league roster filler doesn't have the resume to match the one just lost, you repeatedly evade any query as to what kind of player you think is available on the waiver wire or as a minor league free agent. Not that it stops you from going into the same act the next time you see an opportunity or from dodging any conversation when challenged again. That's not discussion, it's graffiti. Do better. Or at least make an effort.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago I can't believe David Stearns would make you say something like that. I rarely see any meaningful conversation here. Let's be real. Someone just said this in another thread: "Bellinger has a really sunburned nose." Ooh, yes, very insightful conversation. Nah, that's 95% of what this forum is. It is what it is bruv.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Yeah, that was me. And unlike you, I back up what I write. If this isn't meaningful for you, I encourage to you to seek some other place to be. There are plenty of places on the Internet that don't care about no-account posting.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago I have an account, its name is Cowtipper. Look, you and 93% of this forum have an irrational and disturbing hatred of anything Trump and right-wing, I have an irrational and disturbing distrust and dislike of David Stearns' mode of operation. It's the same thing. Everyone here does it in some form or flavor. Potato - potahto.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago 7 minutes ago, Cowtipper said: I have an account, its name is Cowtipper. Playing stupid cuts no ice with me. People here back up their posts. You don't. What you just wrote is complete bullshit.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago I log on each day specifically to read Edgy's PhD-level insightful discussion.

Nah, that's 95% of what this forum is. It is what it is bruv. This has nothing to do with defending David Stearns. I haven't said a word that defends anything about him and neither has anyone on this thread.. This has to do with you inventing a standard -- he isn't getting ML rotation quality pitchers on the waiver wire or via minor league free agents -- that is so ridiculously unrealistic that it calls into question whether you have any knowledge about how player procurement works. And, that rather than defend your position when asked about it, you clam up and hide only to pull the same bullshit again and again at each subsequent opportunity.
