Clay Homes opposes TBD, a hurler who has held the Mets to a .126 BA over the last 143 times they've faced 'him'.

7:10 EDT is the starting time as the Mets try to keep their even dozen losses from becoming a baker's dozen.

Juan Soto will return and the Mets will 'manage' his playing time.

And, as Clubber Lang said when asked for his prediction: "Pain" is in the forecast.

I’m sure rushing Soto back during a freezing homestand because we are desperate will work out fine.

That TBD guy treats the Mets  the way Ray Culp did. All he has to do is walk out onto the mound and the Mets roll over.

Twins call up a guy named Connor Prielipp to start tonight.

Anyone have a B-R Stathead account? I want to see Mets' stats against guys making their first or second major league starts the past, oh, twenty years or so. I'd bet it's fucking abysmal.

Guys making their first ML start usually do well against the Mets, I'm pretty sure.  This guy will probably look like Sandy Koufax against them.

He throws with his left hand. Had an ERA over 5 in the minors last year.

He is a 25 year old that the Twins have high hopes for. Drafted in 2022 and has been delayed by injuries

In 3 starts at AAA he has an ERA of 2.30 and a 22:8 ratio in 15.3 innings

So, he's good enough to cause trouble

My experience is that fans of every team believe this.  I think we tend to armor ourselves by disproportionally mentally collecting evidence that supports the fatalism.

Meanwhile, the lineup goofing gets goofier.

LIndor left with calf tightness, and now I feel bad.

So it's the 24th game of the season and we've had Lindor and Soto in the lineup together for 8-1/2 of them.

 

On the plus side, Soto looked good getting down to 1st on a passed ball even though there was little chance of him getting to 2nd.
