Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 22 Posted April 22 It's how the fuck on Earth is this team so bad Day!! And the Mets need to recycle their bats or something cuz nuthin' else is working. Clay Homes opposes TBD, a hurler who has held the Mets to a .126 BA over the last 143 times they've faced 'him'. 7:10 EDT is the starting time as the Mets try to keep their even dozen losses from becoming a baker's dozen. Juan Soto will return and the Mets will 'manage' his playing time. And, as Clubber Lang said when asked for his prediction: "Pain" is in the forecast.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted April 22 Posted April 22 I’m sure rushing Soto back during a freezing homestand because we are desperate will work out fine.
whippoorwill Old-Timey Member Posted April 22 Posted April 22 Hopefully today is warmer. I remember in 1986 when the Mets just wanted to clinch and get it over with but they went into a skid, Tim McCarver said ‘The Mets are bleeding right now’ and they started winning again. The Mets Are Bleeding Right Now! now go win! MFS62 1

That TBD guy treats the Mets the way Ray Culp did. All he has to do is walk out onto the mound and the Mets roll over. Later
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted April 22 Posted April 22 These days just about anyone that takes the mound against the Mets suddenly becomes unhittable.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted April 22 Posted April 22 Twins call up a guy named Connor Prielipp to start tonight. Anyone have a B-R Stathead account? I want to see Mets' stats against guys making their first or second major league starts the past, oh, twenty years or so. I'd bet it's fucking abysmal.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted April 22 Posted April 22 Not watching. Maybe that'll work. Guys making their first ML start usually do well against the Mets, I'm pretty sure. This guy will probably look like Sandy Koufax against them.

Had an ERA over 5 in the minors last year. Thats all I got.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 22 Posted April 22 He is a 25 year old that the Twins have high hopes for. Drafted in 2022 and has been delayed by injuries In 3 starts at AAA he has an ERA of 2.30 and a 22:8 ratio in 15.3 innings So, he's good enough to cause trouble

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 22 Posted April 22 My experience is that fans of every team believe this. I think we tend to armor ourselves by disproportionally mentally collecting evidence that supports the fatalism. Meanwhile, the lineup goofing gets goofier. ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 23 Posted April 23 This seems to be following the script of the last 12 game Score a run and call it a night
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 23 Author Posted April 23 Another throw by Louie Bobby that was neither hard nor accurate.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted April 23 Posted April 23 That seemed closer at home than it oughta been
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 23 Author Posted April 23 Is it me or was Lindor not really busting it from 2nd to 3rd? I mean, yeah, he scored anyway, but by a hair. On replay: he wasn't busting it 3rd to home either. And now G & R notice it too.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 23 Posted April 23 Ugh and Lindor is out of the game , as FK noted on his run home he wasn't going great
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 23 Posted April 23 So, there's a lot of baseball yet to play this evening, but ... if the Mets need a closer tonight, are you looking at Weaver, or Kimbrell? We will also accept Raley as an answer.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 23 Author Posted April 23 So it's the 24th game of the season and we've had Lindor and Soto in the lineup together for 8-1/2 of them. On the plus side, Soto looked good getting down to 1st on a passed ball even though there was little chance of him getting to 2nd.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 23 Posted April 23 Maybe the Mets need to get a new calf guy.
