Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2021 Posted August 10, 2021 The hot streak starts tonight.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2021 Posted August 10, 2021 As Keith would say, you gotta beat up on the second division teams.Phillies playing the Dodgers this week, so there could be an opportunity to make up some of what was lost over the weekend. It would be great to get some momentum before going into the LA/SF/LA/SF gauntlet coming up over the next two weeks.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2021 Posted August 10, 2021 As long as we win, say, 13 out of 16 these next two-plus weeks, then hey, we're right back in this thing.
Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2021 Posted August 10, 2021 The Phillies got super hot while we were slumping. They can't sustain it, and we're better than this! Coming back strong tonight!
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2021 Posted August 10, 2021 The Nats laid down real nice last week against ATL and PHL, part of the reason we're dropped to 3rd place. Hopefully that trend continues.

kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2021 Author Posted August 10, 2021 Carter Keiboom's name is kinda amusing to me.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2021 Posted August 10, 2021 Man, I hope he doesn't hit a HR tonight.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2021 Posted August 10, 2021 And the insurmountable lead had been established. Of course a solo HR would have achieved the same result.
duan Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2021 Posted August 10, 2021 And as we get momentum… it's third out on the base paths ….
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2021 Posted August 10, 2021 We didn't have a great camera angle on that play, but I don't know about that out of the baseline call. It seems to me that we've seen that called much more strictly this season and Dom seemed to be well within reach of the base.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2021 Posted August 10, 2021 (edited) One of the baseball websites (SNY?) had an article about the series. The gist was, the Nats are at reduced strength due to recent trades and injuries, so one key for the Mets was to avoid giving Soto anything too good to hit with runners on base.Shitfuck.As FK mentioned, the way they have been hitting, this is an insurmountable lead.Later Edited August 10, 2021 by Guest
duan Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2021 Posted August 10, 2021 I don't blame Dom - and think you could well be right but it does play in to the “they manage to find a way to fuck it up”
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2021 Posted August 10, 2021 And speaking of 3R HRs, July 19th is the last time the Mets had one of those.I'm sure none of this will come as a surprise to anyone here but:-- the last 7 HRs the Mets have hit have all been solo HR as have 13 of their last 19. The other six have been five 2R HRs plus a Dom GS-- the 3R HR came on 7/19 on a day when the Mets tallied seven against the Reds: 3 solos, 3 2R HRs, and a 3R job

Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2021 Posted August 10, 2021 Is it a delay or have they called it? The SNY garbage time programming says "Rain Out" instead of "Rain Delay."
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2021 Posted August 10, 2021 Rain still coming down here at Citifield but forecast says it'll also stop. Made a good decision 3not bike it in tonight. Having 🍿and 🍺. BTW, we're totally going to win tonight
