Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted April 1, 2021 Posted April 1, 2021 yeah, it plays into the whole 'play hookey, ignore work' aspect of it.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2021 Posted April 1, 2021 I fucked up over these last few years and accidentally became a hard worker for the first time in my life
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2021 Posted April 1, 2021 A welcome back fans letter from the Commissioner:https://view.mail.mlblists.com/messages/1617282227202c6f072df0e92/rawhttps://view.mail.mlblists.com/messages/1617282227202c6f072df0e92/rawWe are excited to embark on the 2021 season, with new rivalries and the young superstars who are making a significant impact on our game. But, most important of all, we are thrilled to welcome fans back to all 30 of our ballparks. Baseball fans bring so much energy to the park, and our game is so much better with that passion in the stands. We are hopeful that hearing the sounds of a ballgame in-person represents important progress towards a 2021 that looks and feels closer to normalcy. Later
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2021 Posted April 1, 2021 What new rivalries? Does this have anything to do with Florence of the Frontier League?
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2021 Posted April 1, 2021 MLB has just announced the postponement of this game because the stupid Gnats have stupid Covid. Grrrrr
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 1, 2021 Author Posted April 1, 2021 HOLY SHITE!!!New rivalries, my ass!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 1, 2021 Author Posted April 1, 2021 My cold-hearted wife writes, "Great! At least it's the Nats who are ill."Don't get on that woman's bad side.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2021 Posted April 1, 2021 Game will NOT be played on Friday, and at this point I guess Saturday and Sunday are up in the air.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2021 Posted April 1, 2021 There have been comments that it must be one or two of the better WSH players but why does that matter? Also, isn't this why the "taxi squad" and the alternate squad is for OR is the team so contaminated that any close contact with them is a bad idea?
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2021 Posted April 1, 2021 fucking hell. there goes my evening!

kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2021 Posted April 1, 2021 (edited) Who had April 1st as first Covid-19 game cancellation? Edited April 1, 2021 by Guest
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2021 Posted April 1, 2021 Selfishly, this is convenient for me because I was going to have to miss all three games of this series. Now, at most, I'll miss two. This isn't at all surprising, really. COVID-19 is more prevalent now than it was back in October and most players probably haven't been vaccinated yet, since fewer of them would be in a high-priority group. The Mets are next scheduled to go to Washington the weekend beginning June 18. Would they play six seven-inning games (if this whole series is wiped out) or are they still planning on having teams play home games while they're on the road? If that's the case, the Nationals will be at Citi Field April 23, 24, and 25.
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2021 Posted April 1, 2021 my baseballs are getting blue. this is awful.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2021 Posted April 1, 2021 For the statistical-minded, this is gonna cost deGrom at least one start.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 1, 2021 Author Posted April 1, 2021 There's that ...Really, if you want to see compliance with protocols, then make it a 10-0 forfeit if you can't field a negative-testing team by first pitch.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted April 1, 2021 Posted April 1, 2021 That'd encourage too many people to lie about close contact. The Nats can probably field a negative-tested team, but some of those may develop symptoms/positive tests tomorrow or the next day.i think the issue is the people that were around the positive test were flying with the whole team, so the whole team is potentially exposed? It'd be nice if MLB was clear on what the different possibilities are, sounds like Saturday is if those contacts are negative, but the original contacts are still Q'd? But if someone tests positive the whole series is basically scrapped. I just hate that the Mets are just sitting around. Find them some vax appointments! Any potential symptoms for the shot will be done by Saturday
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 1, 2021 Author Posted April 1, 2021 Lying wouldn't make much sense. If done right, the consequences for lying should be far beyond the consequences for telling the truth, which should just be sitting out a day or two until you've been cleared.Really, none of this makes much sense. They've delayed the start of the minor league season just so they can have some fresh-out-the-package players ready in the wings in case there is an infection. I'm sure we'll find out more, but I'm not seeing where the system broke down, and I don't want to speculate.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2021 Posted April 1, 2021 Bright side: We have a few more days to catch up on, and perhaps finish, Twenty-One Prediction Fun before a pitch is thrown!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 1, 2021 Author Posted April 1, 2021 That's the spirit.Trevor May needs some predictions.
whippoorwill Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2021 Posted April 1, 2021 Have they canceled the whole series? My fantasy team is shot to hell akready
