NY Post is reporting not a 'strained' calf but a 'torn' one.

Of course saying a muscle is "strained" is pretty much the same thing as saying it's a somewhat minor tear so part of that is just semantics. But they're also mentioning "several weeks" at a minimum and

then he'd need time to ramp back up after that. And with a season that's less than ten weeks long to start with ...

From what I read online, 3 weeks for a mild one. 4-6 for moderate. Severe is 3-4 months.

Let's hope his Mets career isn't over.

Hasn't Stroman been largely ineffective for a couple years now? Next!

I've seen speculation that a lot of players may be delaying their opt-out until they hit service-time milestones.

Oh well. I had hoped he'd be coming back soon. I guess he was just playing at his rehab.

Well, if MLB couldnt predict that then they are just dumb negotiators.

At least he didn't pull a Cespedes.

Good luck wherever he goes but hope he stays here

To me Strohmann is bread anyway

I was looking forward to seeing him pitch for the Mets but I don't blame him. He's coming off an injury and he doesn't need to get hurt again going into free agency.

Looking to be the anti-Cespedes. And looking to have one more suitor in free agency.

He didn't impress me enough in the short time he pitched for the Mets to throw big dollars at him.

But realistically, this finishes the Mets. They have no fifth starter. Also no second and third starter. Peterson's an acceptable #4 at this point.

And a .500 Mets team is still a serious contender in a 5 game series where deGrom can start 2 games

No point in bailing on the season when you're half a game out of the last wildcard spot.

I thought Stroman was worth the gamble; he had a good resumé in the toughest division in baseball, and he did help the Mets get back in it last year. But circumstances conspired against it working out. I don't fault Brodie for that, although thinking that they didn't need to at least break even on Wheeler was a huge mistake.

Stroman said all the right things, but of course he'll go to the team that opens their wallet the widest.
