Guest 41Forever Guests Posted December 28, 2018 Posted December 28, 2018 I got a really sweet cap from the 7 Line Army for Christmas. It's got the Mets cap logo in a combination of the home run apple and Unisphere. I saw the Army posted an interesting question: If you could change one thing about Citi Field, what would it be?https://the7line.com/blogs/the-7-line/what-is-the-one-thing-you-would-change-about-citi-fieldhttps://the7line.com/blogs/the-7-line/what-is-the-one-thing-you-would-change-about-citi-field

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted December 28, 2018 Posted December 28, 2018 I meant the Brooklyn/Queens side of the river. Should have specified that.

With the scene in LIC, and the skyline in the background. I would get rid of the dumb Ebbets field rotunda.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted December 28, 2018 Posted December 28, 2018 I'd move the Unisphere to be remounted on the upper right field concourse, where the Coca-Cola sign is.I could be wrong, but I don't think the pedestal would take away too much space from the food court below, and diners Could eat in the shadow of the globe. Players could take their shots at becoming the first guy to hit Burundi or Austria or Thailand with a mammoth homer. (In my scenario, the Unisphere very slowly rotates.)
dgwphotography Old-Timey Member Posted December 28, 2018 Posted December 28, 2018 It would still be Shea.It would be in the plot of land that used to house the Jai-Alai Fronton about a mile from my house.Since neither of those are feasible, I wish they would make the rotunda more-Metcentric. A Seaver statue right outside would be a nice touch.
vtmet7 Old-Timey Member Posted December 28, 2018 Posted December 28, 2018 I would have home plate face the water instead of the outfield facing the water...I don't have any scientific proof, but I can't help but think that the reason why the ball doesn't carry is because of being at sea level and facing the water...

metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted December 28, 2018 Posted December 28, 2018 The field being at street level and therefore acccessible therefrom. I'm convinced this is the reason the the run to home plate is no more - it's a bit of a stair climb and maze craze to get onto that verdant pasture for the kids races after the game. And that torturous path is just no way to close out a 5k. Which sucks. I miss that run to home plate so much. Especially now that at least two of my theee kids can run a 5k!
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted December 29, 2018 Posted December 29, 2018 Actual change they could make: fix the scoreboard. Make it bigger, get rid of the ads, put up the lineups at all times.

Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 30, 2018 Posted December 30, 2018 Kill the rotunda, redo it with Mets stuff. I hate that big 42. I respect the man and what he did for baseball but it has nothing to do with the Mets and it's front and center when you enter the park.

LWFS Old-Timey Member Posted December 31, 2018 Posted December 31, 2018 The Rotunda/less-piped-in-noise changes are worthy.Mostly, though, I'd just like it to be in a nabe (Corona, Flushing, LIC), instead of between 'em.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted December 31, 2018 Posted December 31, 2018 "less piped in noise" would improve ANY stadium
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted January 1, 2019 Posted January 1, 2019 Since there's been a change in sponsorship, why not rename the Pepsi Porch to the Coke Den?Think of the promotional possibilities.Hmmm. On second thought, people might think the fans up there are the Bleacher Creatures.Maybe they shouldn't.(in case anyone thinks that was serious, it was just a shot at the MFYs, who sponsor everything, and their fans to kick off the new year.)Later
