  5. Also, since we didn't, here's my list: Alonso deGrom McNeil Conforto Syndergaard JD Davis Wheeler Frazier Ramos Rosario Lugo Matz Cano Nimmo Dom Smith Stroman Wilson Gsellman Vargas Lagares Brach Avilan Zamora Familia Diaz Font Panik Hechavarria Guillorme Rajai Davis Jeez, it gets ugly down at the bottom there quickly.
  6. I feel like every year, when this post hits, I'm like 100% sure we already did this.
  7. I think it's still Cohen too, for less.
  8. Rich assholes gonna rich asshole.
  9. I kinda love that we have two legit Long Island Guys in the rotation. Take back the Island, Mets!
  10. Beckett is the "old standard" of price guides, and they do have an online guide but you have to pay to see any "pricing." COMC (Check Out My Cards) -- https://www.comc.com/https://www.comc.com/ -- is a good gauge, because it's easily searchable, very complete, and has pretty accurate real-time sales and listings. I'm also spending some time on the TCDB -- https://www.tradingcarddb.com/https://www.tradingcarddb.com/ -- lately as well. (I know you're joking about the Bonilla, but as you might imagine, it can be YOURS for the low, low price of just one dollar.)

Hard to remember at this point but it may have been one of those complaining the loudest recently. This, I thought, was far and away the most interesting piece of that article.
  13. This is an exceptionally stupid idea.
  14. I think we'll remember him more fondly than the numbers will say. Won a Gold Glove in his second season but never *quite* got that magic back. Basically Buddy Harrelson in the outfield, with a little more pop.
  15. Two hours with Claire Danes has been a dream of mine since college.
  16. The only baseball podcast I spend any real time with is Rain Delay Theater, where Gelbs and Wayne interview Mets players, past and present. There have been some incredible gems there: Wilmer, Howie Rose, and McNeil come to mind immediately.
  17. brb submitting my resume to Syracuse

  19. Yeah, good thing we're not in their division! That would have become embarrassing for them when we beat them 17 of 19 times. Instead, we'll just have to take 5 of 6 or whatever. Betts career vs Mets: 5 for 23, 6 Ks Price career vs Mets: 0-1, 12.60 ERA (I know, Betts was three games in 2015 and three in 2018, and Price was one start in 2012. Small sample size. Whatever.)
  20. As always, exceptional coverage of one of the most important international events of the year.

  22. Had a .276 OBP last year and struck out in over a third of his plate appearances. i have no interest in having him at all on the major league roster. Looking forward to him hitting 40 home runs in Syracuse this summer.
  23. Conflated him a lot with his brother Garin, who was an equally-regarded prospect with the BoSox. Combined major league Cecchini stats over tiny parts of four seasons: 123 AB, 26 hits.
  24. Look, I completely agree, Ceets, but the DH is coming whether we like it or not, because... the union? Owners? Honestly, I have no idea why, but Lunch is right, it's happening, so we might as well brainstorm ideas that make it less terrible. And no, it's not complicated, necessarily. You have a DH set for your starting pitcher. He bats in whatever spot in the order you want. But when your pitcher is scuffling and you take him out, you have two options -- slide the DH into the field and stick your reliever in that spot in the order, or your DH is out with your starter. You want two ABs of David Ortiz in the four spot, then a giant reliever-shaped hole? Cool, go for it. You want to go with no DH and have deGrom bat ninth and hit for himself so you don't lose the spot? Cool too. Whatever.
  25. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: Glad to see two excellent semifinalists meet in the finals! I'm going with JOG, it's just so clever. I know the Snooze fired everyone with talent some time ago but if I were the Post, I'd do what it takes to hire that guy/girl away. And if I were the Snooze I'd build a whole marketing campaign around him/her. NY DAILY NEWS: Join The Best Headline Writer in the Biz! Totally agree. STREAKERS is obviously the "better" story, but everything about JOG is a better headline, even the look on Cano's face.
