    And realistically, because almost everyone makes the playoffs, as putrid as this team has been, they're still only five and a half out of a spot. I mean, yes, they have to jump over a lot of teams, but it's not mathematically impossible.

    I always vote party line (all Mets) in the NL, and then the worst possible players at each position in the AL. (Unless there's somebody I particularly like over there for some reason.)

    Hey, look, we keep losing the first two and winning the third one every time? We'll still suck, but at least we'll end each series with high fives across the infield. It's all about winning the emotional battle, watching the other team celebrate before you have to pack up.

    I think you have to sell this team for parts at this point. The only folks who care about having around next year are Lindor, Soto, McLean, Scott, Myers, Ewing, Benge, and I still love Alvy. That's eight guys, which is sad. I picked a random bad Mets team in the past - 2018 - and I found more than twice as many guys who I was legitimately excited about at the time (Wilmer, Conforto, Nimmo, Dom, McNeil, Rosario, Guillorme, Lagares, deGrom, Wheeler, Matz, Harvey, Lugo, Noah, Robles, and maybe Cespedes, and that's not even including old Jose Reyes and retiring David Wright). How do you fuck up a $380M payroll this badly?

    The hat is awesome tonight (I mean, if you remember the game) and it's probably cooler because they had to make less of them. And doesn't have a shitty sponsor logo on it, either.

    No, it's quite the opposite. You're guaranteeing a special item for folks who actually want it, rather than the first thousand yahoos getting a Puerto Rican flag they don't care about. It's like the Stony Brook and Syracuse hats this summer; rather than giving shitty ones to the first 15,000 fans, you make nicer ones and give them to people who are excited about it.

    Agree. I keep saying that this can't be good for guys, flying all over the place on a dime like this.

    This isn't new - they've been doing this for years. They have all-play promotions, and then they have special ticket packages with more specific giveaways. I don't necessarily mind or care. My only frustration would be if I already had a ticket and I wanted that special item, would I be allowed to "upgrade" or would I have to buy a second ticket?
