Rockies SS Troy Tulowitzki would prefer to be traded to the Yankees, Dodgers, Giants or Angels, but would be amenable to going to the Red Sox, Mets and Cardinals, a person who knows him told CBSSports.coms Jon Heyman (May 15, 1:00 pm). Seriously. I'm sure the source is bullshit (Heyman), but now? Screw you, Tulo.
  2. G-Fafif wrote: I spoke to a Brewer blogger last night (we were guests on the same podcast) and asked about Lind. He was very happy with the trade that brought Adam to Milwaukee from Toronto for now-injured Marcus Stroman. No, Stroman was drafted by the Jays. Long Island kid. Lind was acquired for Marco Estrada.
  3. There's only one way we get out of that botched bunt with only one out. As soon as Rizzo sees that Harvey's not running, it's an easy DP. Harvey hustles, it forces Rizzo to just catch the ball and get the out. Dilson had no way of knowing that Rizzo was going to let it drop, and if he runs, then whoever catching for the Cubs yells to Rizzo to catch it and then he's doubled off first.

  5. Your spring update: Majors: Nathan (Detroit): Injured; TJ surgery, will miss the year. Could be the end of the road. Koehler (Miami): 2-3, 4.62 in 7 starts. Meh. Minors: Tropeano (AAA Angels): 1-1, 4.20 in five starts (1.30 WHIP, 28 K). Also threw six scoreless and got a W in a spot start in LA. Jankowski (AA San Diego): .333/.420/.425 in 120 AB. Second in the Texas League with 13 SB, making Juan Lagares look like Todd Hundley out there: http://www.milb.com/multimedia/vpp.jsp?content_id=95286283&sid=milb Cantwell (AA Texas): 9 hits in 46 AB, 0 for 25 throwing out runners. Stuck behind a younger guy who's a better prospect, too. Tissenbaum (A+ Tampa): 10 hits in 48 AB. Also stuck behind a younger guy. Argh. Rakkar (A+ Chicago): 1.37 ERA and 0.86 WHIP in 19 2/3 innings at A and high-A. McNitt (A Houston): Just started his season; pitched a scoreless 6th and 7th, then gave up three runs in the 8th. Krause (A- Pittsburgh): Season hasn't started yet. James Campbell and Tyler Johnson drop off the list; neither one appears to be playing this year.

  7. I love that Bruce Chen is still kicking around. And he's "only" 37!
  8. Swisher coached in the mid-90s, no? Several interlopers on the multi-player cards (Gorman Thomas, Dave Dowling, Phil Norton) -- but everyone else has a bona fide Metly connection, even if I THOUGHT WE ALL AGREED NEVER TO MENTION MEL ROJAS AGAIN.

  11. G-Fafif wrote: What I think I like best about this annual ritual of Fmania is that Fman goes to the trouble of including each batter's statistics, just in case that's what we actually came for. That's what Suzyn Waldman said. Seriously. And my goodness, "Oscar Gamble in a leg lock" is COMEDY GOLD. I'm crying.
  12. Joe Nathan to the DL with a likely TJ surgery looming, BUT Nick Tropeano called up by the Angels to start against Oakland today. Seawolves, baby.
  13. Ashie62 wrote: We are losing important pieces day by day. It has to catch up at some point. Yes, but we're WINNING. This would be MUCH worse if we were 3-10 and losing important pieces. WE'VE GOT THIS.
  14. Frayed Knot wrote: On the starting pitching front, we're going to be seeing: - 'Gamblin' Jarred Cosart on Thursday Already discussed somewhat in the IGT thread, Cosart is 14-13, 3.22, 1.35 WHiP over 41 starts in his ML career - ex-MFY David Phelps on Friday Phelps spent the last three seasons flip-flopping between the Yanx pen and their rotation: 87 games, 40 starts. 15-14, 4.21, 1.35. He came with Prado in the previously mentioned Eovaldi trade - Mad Mat Latos on Saturday I've made no secret here of my dislike for Latos. Just gives the impression of being a big, dumb, hot-headed jock who's probably not popular with his teammates either. The 28 y/o ex-Padre/ex-Red has been absolutely bombed in his two Marlins starts so far to the tune of 10 runs (9 earned) on 11 hits & 5 walks in just 4.2 innings. Go get another 'Tat' you overgrown, Nazi Youth-looking freak. - and 'Seawolf' Tom Koehler on Sunday Koehler's now in his 4th season w/the Marlins: 16-22, 4.09, 1.32 The former Stonybrook hurler pitched twice against the Braves this season, winning once and losing once, with about the same mediocre line in each: 2 runs over 5-6 innings We manage to miss, despite this being a four-game series: Dan Haren (who pitched on Wednesday), Henderson Alvarez who was placed on the DL several days back, and of course Jose Fernandez whose ETA from TJ surgery is probably around mid-season. As always, rooting for three Mets blowout wins and then a pitcher's-duel-then-beat-the-bullpen on Sunday.
  15. I guess I'm obligated to take the Marlins, although there is no way I get it up in time for this weekend's series. But I'll take them the rest of the way.

  19. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: They won't even let me log games as far back as I've seen them. Stupid anti-old guy website. Yeah, it only goes back to 75 for MLB and 02 for MiLB games right now, but the guy's working on it. I emailed him last night to ask about adding older minor league games too.
  20. Did the basketball version of this a while back, but just spent a few minutes going through my old scorebooks and adding to my "baseball passport" as well. http://hardballpassport.com/
  21. TWENTY runs in the sixth inning for Belmont yesterday. http://www.belmontbruins.com/sports/m-basebl/2014-15/releases/20150329dt5gbl
  22. Whoa.
