  1. On it. I reserve the right to edit before Sunday if the Mets make roster moves. Part 1: YES or NO 1) Curtis Granderson leads the club in HRs? (any ties count as a win for the YES answers) NO 2) Jenrry Mejia leads in saves? (same deal if there's a tie) YES Will be on the team's ML roster (or DL) the entire season? 3) Dillon Gee YES 4) Bartolo Colon NO 5) Travis d'Arnaud YES 6) Anthony Recker YES 7) Daniel Murphy YES 8) Ruben Tejada YES 9) Jonathon Niese YES 10) Terry Collins (has to be field manager for a YES to count - if demoted but stays in the org with a "special assistant" title or other such nonsense it doesn't count) YES Part 2: OVER/UNDER 11) Lucas Duda -- 29.5 HRs OVER 12) Michael Cuddyer -- 119.5 Starts UNDER 13) Jenrry Mejia -- 19.5 Saves OVER 14) Wilmer Flores -- 449.5 PAs UNDER 15) Bartolo Colon -- 17.5 Starts OVER 16) David Wright -- 21.5 HRs (22 or more would surpass Straw's club record) OVER 17) Kirk Nieuwenhuis -- 199.5 PAs OVER 18) Noah Syndergaard -- 19.5 ML Starts UNDER 19) Steven Matz -- 9.5 ML Starts UNDER 20) Brandon Nimmo - 49.5 ML PAs UNDER EITHER/OR - simply name one player or the other in each comparison 21) More PAs w/2015 NYM: Murphy or Herrera? Or maybe they both did that. Hey, whaddya know. Takatsu's was a bases-clearing double, not a home run. Close enough. 5. I definitely remember that pin set. I have multiple copies of the Mr. Met, including one peering at me right now over my monitor. (I have Wright, Reyes, and maybe two or three others somewhere too.) I do not remember Mike Matthews. I do remember Matt Wise as a Met; I want to say he gave up a big home run to the Marlins early in the season, but I might be conflating him with Shingo Takatsu. Or maybe they both did that. In my head, Mr. Koo was an all-time great Met, because that play against the Yankees is one of my favorite Met things ever.
  6. Remember that guy who posted all those wrestling threads? Goodness, those were hilarious.

  8. I was there, but I was out of the league so I wasn't there. I must not have paid. Shoot me a FB message some time today and we'll time it out so you can bump him and I can pay and claim the team right away.
  9. Shit. Did I get bumped from our league? I thought I paid.
  10. Good news for Gilmartin, probably.
  11. Zvon wrote: I hope down the line this becomes one of those things they point at and say: "and THATS when they began play like champs". Seriously. "It was when David threw out that lunch that we all kinda realized that we needed to buck up and play better, to take the game seriously and really take back this town. We were tired of being second-best."

You can't realistically expect someone who thinks the Bible is fact to be logical about gay rights, but you CAN expect them to be decent human beings. And Murphy strikes me as a decent human being who just isn't too bright. But he plays baseball for a living, so we forgive his SAT scores. Are you implying that people who believe the Bible to be based in fact are illogical or aren't too bright? Frig. I try so hard to stay out of battles here. "Illogical" is the answer to your question, I guess. One of the smartest guys I know -- one of my old college roommates -- is also the most Bibley guy I know.

'Cause if youse don't, and youse just wanna have the cards youse wanna have just so youse could have 'em, youse all must hate this name missing error thing parallel crap that drives the price of some cards to orders of magnitude higher than the price of a common. I can see DGW's point, and I'm not saying I haven't been frustrated by it, but I collect what I like. If it happens that I come up with something that someone places a higher value on than I do, I slap it up on eBay and see what happens. That's mostly why I like collecting the guys I liked as a kid, who don't have any of the big-dollar oddball kinds of things. (And when they do, I just don't collect those cards.) My challenge is keeping my Stony Brook guys collection strong, which gets harder every year as more guys get closer to making the jump.

  17. Those missing-foil cards happen every year. They're curiosities, nothing more. You might get lucky and find a buyer, but it's far from a gold mine.
  18. Yes and no. "Parallels" in card parlance are variations of the same numbered card with the same photo. Usually color or background. Sometimes numbered (gold, black), sometimes not (purple), but the design and photo are the same on the front. Duplicates are multiple copies of the exact same card. I'm always up to trade. My needs are here: http://bit.ly/wVFOp3
  19. Already bought my Foo Fighters tickets for this summer. I have no baseball tickets yet, but I'll be at Citi Field at least once, I guess.
  20. I'm in.
  21. As always, Zvon or whoever, if you buy any '15 and pull any parallels of any of my Stony Brook guys (Tom Koehler and Nick Tropeano and Joe Nathan ALL in the set), let me know.
  22. It's definitely Wright. I see the argument on Harvey, but you can't expect too much coming off the injury. Wright had the worst year of his career and a long contract ahead of him. He needs a big year.
  23. I'm looking forward to seeing the design in person -- going to stop by the card store this afternoon, even though I hate them -- but it's definitely a 25-year throwback to those 1990 borders for me.
  24. '15 comes out this week. One of my favorite holidays of the year -- New Card Day.
