Not the whole set, necessarily -- just the Pete Harnisch -- but that's another one I can't find. That would explain him not being in this mess I call a card metsventory. You're obviously very thorough, do you need stuff like 1988 Topp's Record Breaker with McR pictured or a couple of others with him pictured with others? Set them aside as I was thumbing through everything. Nope. There are 200 or so Kevin McReynolds cards recognized by Beckett; I have all of them except those seven I listed.

  3. All of the Kevin McReynoldses I'm missing are either regional issues or short-printed, so they're generally pretty hard to find. 1983 Padres Team Issue 17 1989 Donruss Blue Chips 4 1990 Donruss Aqueous Test 218 1993 Pacific Spanish 491 1993 Royals Police 2005 Topps All-Time Fan Favorites Auto Rainbow KMC /10 2009 Upper Deck Buyback 20th Anniv 367 The Royals Police set I've seen on eBay a few times; I just need to bite the bullet and spend the five bucks. The other six I've never seen anywhere. The Blue Chips and the Fan Favorites are the only pricey cards on the list, but even the cheap ones have stymied me.
  4. 1993 Pacific Spanish! One of only seven Kevin McReynolds cards I don't have.

I don't want to make moves just to make moves; it's not about cutting the Wilpons slack -- I can't stand the Wilpons -- but all the big names available were starting pitchers, and we don't *need* any of that. Hanley? I've never been a big Hanley fan, and I think the Sox overpaid him. But yes, he'll be better than anything we have right now at SS in 2015.

  7. Banning shifts is idiotic.

  9. In that picture, Bill Maher looks like mini-TMF/D-Dad's long-lost twin-yet-way-older brother.
  10. Do you know your 1980's Donruss Rated Rookies? http://www.sporcle.com/games/smoggy14/ratedrookies I got 51.
  11. I will forever conflate him with that guy who had the infinite ERA from a few years ago, and despite the photographic evidence, I have no memory of him in a Mets uniform.
  12. 2106 potential ballot: http://www.baseball-reference.com/awards/hof_2016.shtml Griffey is obvious. Piazza probably gets over the hump, and Bagwell and Raines will probably get close.

Stuff like that bothers me more in a year like this where there were like eighteen guys with solid cases. Idiots. Congrats to three of the four. Eff Smoltz.
  14. To answer Kase's question, yes, any time you @ someone, Twitter finds it. And yes, every time a new thread is posted here, the CPF account tweets it. I didn't set it up; I'd actually rather that not happen, because auto-tweets are dangerous.
  15. The Rays are smart. He won't come cheap. But he's EXACTLY what we need. He's Joe McEwing, except he can actually hit. Career WAR leaders in his range (years, age), as per BR: 23. Rafael Furcal (14, 36) 39.0 24. Adrian Gonzalez (11, 32) 38.2 25. Troy Tulowitzki (9, 29) 37.6 26. Ben Zobrist (9, 33) 36.6 27. Curtis Granderson (11, 33) 36.5 Hanley Ramirez (10, 30) 36.5 29. Maybe it's because we're collectively, publicly, a bunch of d-bags. Before I respond, are you being jokingly sarcastic? Yes and no. I haven't looked because I've unfollowed most of the dreck on Twitter, but if the discovery of a Wilpon daughter online leads "fans" to harass her in any way, then yes, there are bunch of d-bags who are making the rest of us look bad.

Amazing how brave folks suddenly get under the anonymity of the internet. Seriously? Fucking hell. And we wonder why this organization doesn't give a flying fig about the fan base? Maybe it's because we're collectively, publicly, a bunch of d-bags. (Present company excepted, of course.)

  19. Threw lefthanded. Wore #32.
  20. I love that; thanks for the link. By the way, this is finally the year that Mattingly falls off the ballot. Yay!
  21. Just make sure you include @KeithOlbermann in there somewhere and it'll hit his notifications. (Or his Twitter guy's notifications, anyway.)
  22. Vic Sage wrote: I've thought all along the Mets would go for a SS with the idea of having him be a LH hitting lead off guy, moving Flores to 2B, and trading Muffy. I sort of still think they do that. i still HOPE they do that. And i don't care which side of the plate he hits from, as long as he doesn't have much of a platoon differential, with at least a .330 OB%, and can run well enough to put himself in scoring position, and is hard to throw out going 1st-3rd or at the plate. And is a good defensive SS. And it would be nice if he had some power, but thats not a necessity. But who meets these criteria? Very few. In fact, the only leadoff-hitting SS in baseball over the past 3 seasons that approaches these criteria and is still active and able to bat leadoff is... ...a guy named Reyes. why don't we get THAT guy? I have been beating, and will continue to beat, the Reyes drum as well.
  23. At that rate, I'd go for it.
