  1. Fire everyone.

  3. Best case scenario is bone spur right? Don't even want to consider the other side.
  4. I can't see how that tweet could be calculated to do anything. I think it's a frustrated owner sounding off. And it's silly to think it had any effect on the game. Maybe the only newsworthy part is that the players keep saying they have the right approach at the plate, while the owner clearly thinks they don't. I don't know exactly what the process is, but the owner and players are clearly not on the same page. Nor is it evident from their play what their objective is. I mean, if I had to guess, their philosophy seems to be "hit a lot of ground balls right into the shift". Then once in a while complain that the BABIP gods are against you because you hit a sharp ground ball into shift.
  5. Rumors are that the Mets have already made the decision to shut down deGrom for the remainder of the season. I'd like to get him back, if nothing else to make sure he's healthy once he ramps up. It will be one shitty winter if we have to hold our breath and wonder what derailed his season, and whether it will creep back up in March.
  6. 1-6 is not very good.
  7. Anyway, back to the point, I don't like it. He can handle that message privately. But I guess that sort of restraint might be too much to ask of cutthroat billionaire hedge fund types. I wanted the money. This comes with it.

  9. Late to this. But I'll stick to my original prediction of 5.
  10. I swear they have held the lead for like 18 minutes for all of August.
  11. I don't understand the thought process behind burning Carrasco with that downpour coming. Not that he was any good anyway.
  12. Could be lingering effects of CoVid too.
  13. I don't know if the philosophy is bad, or the execution of the philosophy is bad, but what's absolutely maddening is the Mets unwillingness to make any adjustments after four and half months of failure. I mean sure. Let's keep pulling ground balls into the shift.
  14. Wheeler versus this lineup is a mismatch.
  15. Well it wasn't Citifield's fault tonight.
  16. Let's make sure we have the same approach at the plate tomorrow. I'm sure eventually it will start working.
  17. Trading for bats would have helped. Asking the ones we have to hit to all fields might have helped more.
  18. Their approach at the plate is terrible. The results reflect this. I don't know if the Mets have analytics to back up this approach, but it doesn't seem to be working.
  19. Edgy MD wrote: Rojas pulled a Jerry Manuel and went to his hot hand one time too many. Many factors play in here. Starting pitchers that don't go deep leave a manager handcuffed. And an offense that gives pitchers absolutely no margin for error.
  20. I don't know what yous guys are talking about, but GameCast tells me the game is tied and that makes me happy.
  21. Oh this is fun. I'll do the Yankees. https://img.beckett.com/images/items_stock/185223/4076510/4076652/front_old.jpg>
  22. And this was kinda my point at the beginning of this thread. "We are in first place" is a smokescreen for a very flawed team. They are 29th in runs scored on August 3. They have a negative run differential. This is no longer a small sample size. Their approach at the plate has yielded terrible results. But they remain steadfastly committed to it rather than adjusting. Conforto, Smith, Lindor, McNeil and McCann are badly underperforming compared to expectations coming in. They are in first place by less than three games due to a hot streak in May where the subs performed well and the pitching was flawless. That team is no longer relevant for the last 59 games. Last night our starting pitcher gave up a first inning grand slam. Our offense wasn't able to put 4 on the board the rest of the way. So even if the pitching had been perfect, it wouldn't have mattered. This team has been moving backwards for a while. I'm not saying folks shouldn't be optimistic. There's plenty of time and plenty of opportunity to turn it around. But to improve, a team has to show a willingness to improve. I haven't seen any trace of that.
  23. =ashie62 post_id=73227 time=1627947140 user_id=90] And like that. On to other viewing.
  24. =Marshmallowmilkshake post_id=73177 time=1627921685 user_id=119] =Centerfield post_id=73174 time=1627919231 user_id=65] The Mets are depressing.
