How bout now?
  2. Mets have been granted permission to speak to Raquel Ferriera. She seems ok. Twenty years of experience in nearly every facet of the baseball front office including many as the EVP of baseball operations. But can she adequately fill the shoes of the drunk white guy with the knack for looking overwhelmed that was promoted over her? Tough shoes my lady. Tough shoes.
  3. Edgy MD wrote: Oh, man. A shame right? I don't see how one lost night can outweigh all the talent he had demonstrated during his short time with the Mets. I mean, so demonstrably demonstrated.
  4. I respect that Ben has prepared all of these photoshops and all, but really, Jared Porter's weird webcam still is the obvious TCD 2021 champion. The rest of this contest is just a formality.

  7. No one has said Carlos Beltran yet. I'll go with that.

  9. 10. Lindor had an .813 OPS the second half, which is fine. Not great, but fine, and just a touch under his career totals. It is, however, his second straight down year. So you start to wonder. Agree that he needed to be better. Conforto, McNeil and Smith were terrible. The idea that any one of them would be that bad wasn't really on the radar. All three? Unthinkable. JD was hurt, McCann's 2020 ended up being a mirage. That's 6 out of 8 position players that underperformed. You're not having a good year when that happens. The rotation was hit with bad luck. deGrom getting hurt. Carrasco getting hurt, then sucking. Noah getting delayed. Bullpen was pretty good though.

  12. Allen Watson. Wow that took a long time.
  13. There was a long reliever in the 90s. Was supposed to be a basketball stud. I think he was lefty? Maybe Allen something.
  14. Has a higher career OPS than Derek Jeter.
  15. I admire the spirit of the posters in this thread. The Mets playoff chances have been over for weeks.
  16. Frayed Knot wrote: Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: He's a skilled fielder and good runner. They didn't get him just for a 3 month test drive. This is the conundrum with this guy. He's a skilled fielder (who has 20 errors this year and only his juggling act last night kept that from being 21 even though that bobble prevented a DP in an inning where the Cards scored several two-out runs) and a good runner (who makes a lot of stupid base running decisions and his hand jive stuff only occasionally allows him to get away with it). And then there's the .305 career OBA which peaked at .326 in his best season (2018) and is .286 since the start of 2020 so it's not improving and he turn 29 y/o in December so one wonders if he's already too old to change his spots. And it likely won't be a short commitment. Yes. This exactly. All the talk of strikeouts, it's the lack of OBP. And even in his shorts Mets stint where they are talking about "the new selective Javy Baez", he's walked 6 times in 125 PAs. Which doesn't sound like a lot except he walked only 7 times in 235 PAs last year. Plate discipline isn't a skill that young players seem to be able to acquire. And certainly not at age 29. I get that Baez does a lot of things well. But almost all of that is based on ridiculous athleticism. I don't think that tends to age well. So, with long term commitments being risky to begin with, I don't think they should take a risk on a guy that already has so many question marks surrounding his game. Which is why I believe that Sandy Alderson would have absolutely made a full effort to sign him this winter. Hopefully the new front office has other thoughts.
  17. Fuck that fucking fuck.
  18. https://www.flickr.com/photos/fingermanfamily/albums/72157719827197884Long awaited photo collage of some moments from Syracuse Mets home games this past summer. I still have to capture a pic of the awesome Mr. Met seat section signs. Good thing they have a few more weeks of home games this year. These are great. What did you shoot these with?
  19. I saw the clip. Jake looked unhappy. I don't know if he's annoyed at the lack of progress or the messaging from Sandy or something else.
  20. Sprains are basically small tears. Any torn UCL is cause for concern. But a google search suggests that ligaments do sometimes heal themselves.
  21. =Centerfield post_id=75579 time=1629993016 user_id=65] Zach Scott? Tim Scott? He's so forgettable I can't even remember his name. His one defining quality is that he looks like he calendared the press conference for the next day and had to be woken up from his nap and rushed into the press room.
  22. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I don't remember if Lindor has a no-trade in his contract. If he does I think he'd be required to be protected. If that's true then you also have to protect Robinson Cano.
  23. I wasn't kidding with the fire everyone statement. Let's assume for now that Steve Cohen has not meddled to Wilponian levels yet. That leaves hope that things can get righted. Sandy has to be the first to go. He hired Mickey, he hired Jared Porter. Then right after saying he's gotta look at character and do more due diligence, he went hard after Trevor Bauer. The McCann signing only made sense with the implication that big things would follow. Then they did not. George Springer has a .972 OPS. Javy Baez wasn't having a great season, then has gotten worse since getting here (more about the "approach" later). His big offseason acquisition has been a bust. Bye Sandy. Whoever is responsible for the offense's "approach" has to go. All year long, they talked about how the results were there, but the approach was correct. WTF. As far as I can tell, the approach appears to be "let's ground into the shift, like all the time" or "let's swing and miss at fastballs down the dick". Zach Scott? Tim Scott? He's so forgettable I can't even remember his name. His one defining quality is that he looks like he calendared the press conference for the next day and had to be woken up from his nap and rushed into the press room. Luis Rojas. No explanation necessary. Heads have to roll.
