  1. Whatever the change, it is working well. Later
  2. Would you have thought he was ready after his first nine starts of the season, through which he had a 6.69 ERA? Or would you have brought him up after his appearance before his last one, in which he went 3.2IP 7H 7R 5ER 2BB 4K, raising his season's ERA to 4.50? Since that shaky start to the season, he has a 3.19 ERA and 86 strikeouts over 84 2/3 innings. But when, exactly, would you have said he was "ready" to be brought up before now? For reference, you can check his game to game progress in his thread in the Prospect Forum Later
  3. I wonder who he'll replace. Later
  4. The bad outing was when they used him in relief in a "bullpen game". Maybe his head wasn't in that role, as he sees himself as a starter. But if you go back through the thread, you'll see that most of his recent appearances have been lights out. Later
  5. Remind me again why Helsley was a good pickup. Later
  6. Question my choice of words, but I was right. He didn't get through the fifth. Later
  7. No. I'm never anxious to see them. I just wanted to be ready in case there was a sudden melt down and they hung a big crooked number on the scoreboard. Later
  8. Or John Holmes? Get somebody up in the bullpen. Holmes has thrown 60+ pitches through four IP. He's reaching what has been his recent wall. Later
  9. And, about that "advancing to second on a deep fly ball" thingie... (ducking) Later
  10. Clay Holmes vs Casey Mize Later
  11. And I can't fight this feeling anymore I can't see what Manaea is even starting for He can't get his ERA to 4 He overworks the bullpen for sure And I can't fight this feeling anymore I've forgotten what they signed Manaea for And if I have to crawl upon the floor Come crashing through his door, and tell Mendoza I can't watch Manaea starting anymore. Later
  12. Herget up, Taylor to the 10 day IL with leg problem (hamstring?) Later
  13. Jared Young up to join the Mets in Detroit. Brandon Waddell to Syracuse. Later
  14. Back on track as a starter. His numbers today: 7.0IP 3H 0R 0ER 2BB 9K lowering his ERA to 4.24 Later
  15. He'll be dh-ing tonight for Syracuse. Later
  16. The Mets have designated left-handed reliever José Castillo for assignment and recalled right-hander Chris Devenski from Syracuse. Later
  17. There were some stories a few days ago that Soto said the Lindor "isn't a leader". I don't remember the sources, or if this was verified, but maybe clubhouse drama was into their heads. As Yogi Berra said, "Baseball is ninety percent mental and the other half is physical.". BTW - I thought you were the new reincarnation of a different ex-member than Edgy identified. Later
  18. That may be the first ever mention of a Venn diagram on the CPF. Well played. Later
  19. For every ray of sunshine, a little rain must fall. Kevin Herget has been optioned to AAA to make room for Tong. Later
  20. Like his uniform number, it was given to him. Later
  21. I fear the over-hype. Later
  22. If he didn't have bad luck, he'd have no luck at all. Later
  23. Only superstars get an 8 year deal. And that is based on how team management views him. So that would be off the table for him. He's not at that point yet. But if he stays this hot for the rest of the year, and at his age, a four or five year deal is certainly a possibility for Vientos. Later
  24. I voted for after two excellent seasons. For any rookie, you want to be sure they can survive after the proverbial sophomore jinx. (the adjustment, re- adjustment and adjustment to the re-adjustment, etc.) Later
  25. Alvarez started at catcher tonight for Syracuse, and has doubled in his first at bat. Later
