Would you have thought he was ready after his first nine starts of the season, through which he had a 6.69 ERA? Or would you have brought him up after his appearance before his last one, in which he went 3.2IP 7H 7R 5ER 2BB 4K, raising his season's ERA to 4.50? Since that shaky start to the season, he has a 3.19 ERA and 86 strikeouts over 84 2/3 innings. But when, exactly, would you have said he was "ready" to be brought up before now? The bad outing was when they used him in relief in a "bullpen game". Maybe his head wasn't in that role, as he sees himself as a starter. But if you go back through the thread, you'll see that most of his recent appearances have been lights out. Later

There were some stories a few days ago that Soto said the Lindor "isn't a leader". I don't remember the sources, or if this was verified, but maybe clubhouse drama was into their heads. Only superstars get an 8 year deal. And that is based on how team management views him. So that would be off the table for him. He's not at that point yet. But if he stays this hot for the rest of the year, and at his age, a four or five year deal is certainly a possibility for Vientos. Later
