  1. Are we voting for who we think might get elected or who we would vote for if we were voting them into the hall? I voted the latter. Later
  2. The Braves struck a deal to hire Walt Weiss as their next manager on Monday afternoon, the team announced. Weiss, who has been the team's bench coach since 2018, will replace Brian Snitker as their manager. Later
  3. One more thing to be considered. Diaper Don has said that Clemens belongs in the hall. (They've played golf together). And since some ballplayers (and other possible voters Edgy mentioned) tend to be conservative, that might sway their votes toward the fat coward, bat tosser getting in. Later
  4. See 22 across. Later
  5. Or, like us, he wishes he could ignore its existence. Later
  6. Did they have both French and English versions? Later
  7. Sidle up to all the GMs and go,"Psst. Wanna' buy a damaged lefthander?" Then, as soon as one answers positively, make a deal on the spot. His 2024 ERA of 3.47 seems to be an outlier among his 2020-2025 3.90 and over 4 ERAs. Sell while the other GM feels his pitching coach and/or medical staff can get him back on track. I'm not sure he can return to the numbers of that one good year. Make him someone else's problem Later
  8. The Nationals are reportedly hiring Blake Butera as their manager. https://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/article/nationals-reportedly-hiring-33-year-old-blake-butera-as-new-manager-142054191.html Later
  9. Christopher Antonio Suero Is a homie - a Bronx born 21 year old with a world of potential. His calling card is his ability to catch as well as play first and the outfield. He played at Brooklyn and Binghamton this year, demonstrating both power (16HR) and speed (35 sb). If he can improve his contact rate a bit, we'll be seeing him up here soon. https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=suero-000chr Welcome to my house, Kid. Make me proud. Later
  10. She was elected team president of the Mets and named to its board of directors. She became the first woman to direct the day-to-day operations of a Major League baseball franchise. RIP Later
  11. I think they said the first guy would be "hitting coordinator" so it sounds like the coach would be below him on the org chart. Later
  12. And I think I read that at least one of them also plays third - expanding the options. Later
  13. That's what she said. BA DA BUM! Later
  14. My friend's son was a Production manager for this movie. Not sure if I'll see it. Later
  15. The last Roberto Pena to play in the majors was an infielder who played from 1965 to 1971. So, I'm guessing that isn't this guy. I'm also guessing that this one is a relief pitcher. Later
  16. Great answer. And your question is? Later
  17. What is the Tom Seaver of Shakespeare's plays? King Lear - anyone who has daughters would agree. What is the Tom Seaver of movie musicals? Later
  18. Richard Lovelady has been re-signed to a one year major league deal. Later
  19. Already answered. Or should there be a "Tom Seaver of ..." discussion thread? Later
  20. The Mets announced that Francisco Lindor underwent a debridement procedure on his right elbow after the 2025 season. Lindor previously had surgery on the same elbow to remove a bone spur following the 2023 season and went on to have a fully healthy Spring Training and 2024 season (in terms of his elbow, at least). This debridement procedure - typically a minor operation to remove scar tissue of some kind - is more than likely to have little to no impact on Lindor’s readiness for 2026.(all exhale) Later
  21. Adam - he was the #1 starter (of it all) Who is the Tom Seaver of movie cowboys ... ? Later
  22. Ugh! Later
  23. Willis Reed. When he limped onto the court in the game against the Lakers and inspired his team to win, it was one of the most famous moments in the history of sports. The Tom Seaver of movie monsters ...? Later
  24. The Keurig coffee maker - it is ubiquitous. And almost all coffee companies adhere to their cup standard. The Tom Seaver of disaster films... ? Later
  25. The Angels have hired Kurt Suzuki to be their manager. Later
