  1. You said "how we define it" and did not specify players only or anything about retiring numbers. I define an icon as someone who is idolized or adored. Gil fits. Later
  2. Good signing. Later
  3. If you don't just mean players, I would add Gil Hodges to that list. Later
  4. Can't find the post, but someone here mentioned that the approach reminds them of a Moneyball scenario. IIRC, there is a scene when the traditional baseball guys are wondering where they are going to replace their slugging first baseman's HR and RBI. Beane responded that you don't have to find that production in one player, but several players can make up that difference. Maybe they can do that. But can they find enough production to add the numbers of Nimmo, too? I'm not sure that's available. Later
  5. He's a 240 pound ex-catcher. I'm curious how he might be a key run preventer at first. But the bat plays well. Later
  6. Of those veteran first base options Ben mentioned, I prefer Yandy Diaz - his numbers just strike me as a tad better, and he strikes out less than Contraras or Paredes. Any of them would be acceptable place holders for Clifford for a year or two. Later
  7. That's one day after they signed OF Mike Yastrzemski. Later
  8. A well thought out analysis. Now we're waiting for the sugar to make that medicine go down. Later
  9. And we’re not sure he is capable of doing that. Later
  10. Things happen in threes. First Díaz Then Alonso. What’s next? Some sheik buying Mrs. Met for his harem? Stay tuned. Later
  11. Stearns didn't even kiss us first. I voted World Series (or nuthin'). I'm getting too old for this ****. Later
  12. My kid’s off to the Houston organization. Happy trails, kid. Later
  13. I’m glad my kid Trey found a new home. Later
  14. If he can also sign a center fielder and closer I’ll allow him to use Vaseline. Later
  15. Fandom is not rational. And this irrational fan is really pissed. Stearns had better come back from the meetings with some needed players or he shouldn’t come back. Later
  16. The 2026 draft lottery was held yesterday. I looks like the Mets won’t have a first round pick. Who did they sign which forfeited that pick? Also the rule 5 draft is this afternoon. The 40 man roster is full do there is no room to make a pick. Later
  17. Found a work around. Later
  18. Having a big technical problem. I can get here by Clicking on the link on the old site, but when I enter the phpbb address in my phone it comes back it c Can’t open the site/ server not found.
  19. From his Facebook page, Joe Macdonald trying to make Mets fans feel better: Later
  20. I had read that the Mets were interested in acquiring Edwin's brother. I guess this means he is off the market. Edgy's story about playing with gas lines had me checking CNN, but it sounds like he did a good job. Later
  21. Just what I thought. Later
  22. Per Will Sammon and Tim Britton of The Athletic, the Mets are reportedly open to moving SP David Peterson to fill "other holes". I hope that means that they are confident they will either sign another FA starter or that one of the kids is ready to replace him in the rotation . Later
  23. Forget the money. This is the real issue. Maybe he didn't think the team will score enough runs, or have starting pitching good enough, to have leads he'd have to protect. Later
  24. But it isn't remembering my password. I have to enter it each time I get here. Is that something that can be fixed? Later
  25. The Mets got Baerga for Kent, after they had acquired Kent for David Cone. Later
