Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Lots of talk of firing people around these parts. Here's your chance to be the hatchetman.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 I voted for Jerry, Omar, Wayne and Cora. I'd only fire Jerry and Wayne if I had a better candidate in mind.Cora has to go because the team stands to save money by cutting him. Omar has just not done a very good job. In my mind, he deserves it the most.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Manuel, Hojo, Warthen, Hagin, Cora, Perez, Wilpon the Younger. (I'm firing at a .389 rate!)I'd reassign Minaya to a scouting assistancy, should he accept.

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 My lunch wasn't the best so I fired all the coaching staff except Hale.I then fired Castillo, Rodriguez , Ollie and Alex ...oh ,and Omar
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 I voted the usual suspects (mentioned in posts above) plus the wilpons.I want to see Mikhail Prokhorov buy the team.Later
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Unless you kill the head, every other firing will eventually regenerate into the same old shit.

I never considered that, seeing as how you can't fire an owner...In all seriousness, the Wilpons have shelled out plenty of cash for payroll/draft signings; unless you believe the conspiracy theories that Jeff is pulling all the strings, I don't see them as the ones at fault. The Madoff stuff is distracting but the payroll is still very high and I don't see how their investment is insufficient to produce a contending product. I see the GM as the one responsible for taking that cash and using it properly.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 my 'other' was for the negative pissy fans that annoy me. I want to fire them, preferably by firing squad.

I didn't realize that this was such a serious poll that all because of us, the top vote-getters would be receiving actual pink slips at the close of voting.I will now withdraw all of my votes being that in real life, I don't even have the clout to get the third dishwasher at CF Shake Shack fired.

You don't know that. Unless you know how much they're making, and how much they're spending in relation to what they have, ... how much they could spend, you're just guessing. The issue isn't simply how much money the Wilpons have spent, but how much money they can comfortably afford to spend. Edited August 3, 2010 by Guest
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Everyone -- including all Wilpons -- except Chip, Wayne, Frankie, and Edge.Chip can stay; I like having a guy named "Chip" around. Wayne's bad, yes, but he'll get better, and the radio guy doesn't really matter anyway. Frankie can stay because he still has trade value. Fire him? No. Trade him? Yes. Edge can stay because we need his witty banter.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 I was already counting on my severance pay.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2010 Author Posted August 3, 2010 Aw, who voted to fire Edgy?

But I can compare their spending to other MLB teams, including those with more recent success than the Mets, and realize that they are spending comparable amounts or more.

Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2010 Author Posted August 3, 2010 Yes, this whole thread is a joke intended for cathartic purposes only.No one will actually lose their job as a result of the voting in this poll.Except for Edgy, and that will be for spending too much work time on the internet.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 I don't think I have to say who I fired.Didn't think it possible, but they are up there, so I fired em.If spending money was the best thing an owner could do, I would not have fired em.It's not.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Wanting the team's ownership to change isn't an indefensible position, by any means.Wanting the team's ownership to change because they don't spend/authorize spending enough is.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 I voted for all of em. Send em all packing. No offense Edgy, you were in the line of fire.
