Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 22 Posted March 22 OK, never really a NYM at the higher levels, but Jerred Kelenic will NOT make the White Sox opening day roster, something that sounds like it's akin to being left out of the 3rd grade classroom picture. * I don't Think we have an active one of these threads
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted March 22 Posted March 22 I peaked in 3rd grade, so that would've really stung.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 23 Posted March 23 I imagine he is only there until he isn't. Joey Lucchesi, meanwhile, has been released by the Giants, and at least one guy I saw out there speculated that he should get Bryan Hudson's spot in the pen.

I don’t know about Lucchesi specifically, but DiComo reported this weekend that the Mets aren’t sold on either Hudson or Lovelady as the last man in the ‘pen and are still considering other waiver-wire options.

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 20 Posted April 20 Edwin Diaz to the IL with " loose bodies in his right elbow" per various accounts
duan Old-Timey Member Posted April 21 Posted April 21 at least that explains his bad pitching! What's Devin's excuse?
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 23 Posted April 23 Taijuan Walker has been released by the Phillies.
whippoorwill Old-Timey Member Posted April 23 Posted April 23 And it sounds like their fans are happy about it
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted April 27 Posted April 27 Tyler Rogers has a 0.68 ERA in 13 relief appearances so far. Gregory Soto has a 1.98 mark in 14 games, while averaging 13,2 K/9. Rico Garcia has a 0.75 ERA and 0.417 WHIP in 12 games.

So what you're saying is several former Mets are prospering upon leaving the Mets. I did want the Mets to resign Rogers. He has a proven track record and consistently makes a high number of appearances each year. Soto threw hard, but did little to make me wish for his return.. I will admit that I had to look up Rico Garcia who pitched pretty effectively for the Mets in limited action in 2025 (8 appearances, 12.2 innings, 0.711 WHIP and 2.11 ERA), but I had no recollection of him.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted April 29 Posted April 29 Carlos Cortes, who languished in the Mets system from 2018 to 2024, is hitting .387/.457/.694 with 4 home runs and 13 RBI in 23 games for the A's this year. Last year, he hit .309/.323/.543 in 94 ABs with the club.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted June 28 Posted June 28 Anthony Kay, former first round pick traded for Marcus Stroman in 2019 (though he returned briefly in 2023), disappeared to Japan for a couple years. He returned stateside for 2026 and is doing well, posting a 6-2 record and a 4.24 ERA in 76 1/3 innings for Chicago.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted June 29 Posted June 29 Chavez spilling the beans , did things end bad with him or what ?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 29 Posted June 29 Chavez has certainly talked shit about the Mets from the moment he left. I'm not sure why he thinks that tale doesn't reflect on Soto or himself.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 30 Author Posted June 30 Texas Rangers DFA Jarred Kelenic Just 10 PAs w/the Rangers: 1 for 8 w/2 BBs and 5 Ks. His numbers in AAA [split between Round Rock (TEX) and Charlotte (CHW)] weren't too bad but it's not like there's a recent track record he can fall back on. Turns 27 in a few weeks.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted June 30 Posted June 30 Pete Alonso is hitting .290/.384/.545 with 11 homers and 34 RBI since May 18 ... but not with the New York Mets :-(.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted July 6 Posted July 6 McNugget is cooked: Jeff McNeil is hitting just .227/.292/.305 in 81 games for Oakland. But he's still getting into games regularly, which means much like he did with the Mets, he's duped his club into keeping him around and playing him a lot longer than logic would suggest possible.
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted July 8 Posted July 8 Justin Verlander now officially a lock for the Baseball HOF Class of ‘31
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 28 Posted July 28 Whenever Kelenic's name comes up, I remember this post. Today I finally took the time to find it:
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted July 28 Posted July 28 There is a reason Kelenic can't stick anywhere. He kinda sucks. But, astoundingly, he's still only 26. Might be worth a shot.
Aiden Robbins Brooklyn Cyclones - A+ OF The 21-year-old 3rd round pick this year played 20 games for St. Lucie and hit .273/.371/.455 (.826) with 2 doubles and 4 homers. He has now played 2 games with Brooklyn and is 2-for-4 with a home run. Explore Aiden Robbins News >
