The team is an embarrassment. What do you do?  Stearns will do nothing. He won’t fire anyone. He won’t change his philosophy. No adjustments will be made. 
 

I’ve excused Steve Cohen until now. He did his part. He funded a huge payroll. Hired smart people and got out of the way. But now this is malpractice. You can’t just let this keep happening. You have to step in. 
 

It boggles my mind that the answer to this is nothing. They’ll do fucking nothing.

It is time to start building for next year.  Keep the parts you wish build around and trade the others that do not figure into the Mets future for prospects.  Unfortunately, I don't know that there is much of value that other teams would offer much for beyond, possibly Peralta.  I think that Bichette's contract, greatly limits his trade value.  Baty and Vientos likely have minimal trade value.  Senga would be tough to give away at this point.

Last off season was the tear down, now it is time for a major rebuild.

I think I'm over the idea of "prospects". They make the annual Baseball America listings look a little more impressive, but it seems that very few prospects that are acquired in trades have much impact at the major league level. (I know there are some, obviously, but the percentage is likely very low.) I'd rather see them trade for someone who's somewhat established in the majors and has a few years of arbitration left. The Mets need some new major leaguers for 2027 and need to look at trade candidates as well as free agents.

I think you *have* to trade or release anything that's not nailed down. Senga, Manaea, Baty, Vientos, Semien, Bichette, Young, all the decent bullpen arms except Myers.

I know Clifford is hitting .180 or whatever in AAA with 150 Ks in 300 AB. Dude can mash. Call him up.
I know Tong has been meh at best. Call him up.
Where does Ronny Mauricio play? I don't know, but it shouldn't be in Syracuse. Call him up.
Jack Wenninger is more or less ready. Call him up.
Did you know we have a reliever named Guillo Zuñiga in AAA? Great name. Call him up.
Jefry Yan is a 29-year-old LHP who has faced 19 batters in AAA and struck out *13* of them. Call him up.

This ain't 2024. Time for a fire sale. Keep the good ones so fans have something to watch this season, but everyone being mediocre or underwhelming or bad, just get rid of. Use this opportunity to try out prospects. 

I'd keep Bichette because he's a big name and a draw. Lindor and Soto, too. But I'd gut everything else. I'd like to see the following moved sooner rather than later:

Vientos
Baty
Melendez
Taylor
Robert
Polanco
Peralta
Senga
Myers
Manaea
Williams
Probably Warren, too; sell high

I didn't include Alvarez, because it looks like fate spun the roulette wheel and landed on Alvarez being the one of the three to have a fairly decent season this year (last year it was Baty, 2024 was Vientos), so keep him for now. Plus, he's younger. Keep Mauricio, too, because he hasn't actually been given actual opportunity to fail like the others.

I think other teams find ways to get prospects to become serviceable major leaguers. I get that very few become stars, but it’s amazing how we can’t even develop league average players.

At this point, no player on the roster should be safe, unless they’re incredibly cheap and incredibly young.

have deep serious conversations to make sure that Soto and Lindor are going to be a meaningful part of rebuilding and reshaping what it means to be a met and how they fit into true leadership roles to the best of their ability and personality. 
 

and figure out where and why there is such a colossal communication failure throughout the organization. 
 

the whole team seems to be playing like they don’t actually know what they’re supposed to be doing. What the approach should be and why. Like they’re just doing what they think they’re being told to do and when it doesn’t work hey it’s not my fault. Maybe I’m projecting here… but there’s something inexplicably broken Throughout the organization. 
 

these are good players who just look… and play… lost.
