I used to have really strong opinions on things like this too but definitely don't care much anymore. Part of it is accepting that the uniform has become a part of the marketing machinery that gives no shits what old farts think.

Here's the Mets cap: It's got a cap within a cap. It shoulda had Mr. Met wearing the new BP cap instead of the old regular blue cap. That'd burn your eyeballs out.

The terms "headspoon" and "placket piping" were unfamiliar to me. But I agree, the uniform looks better without it.



UniWatch often refers to the black jerseys as "BFBS" and I have no idea what that means.

Headspoon, as I understand it, describes the often-reinforced strip down the middle of a button-down jersey, up into the collar, which is often, but not always, reinforced as well, depending on the fabric.



This area, particularly when it is outlined with piping, creates the impression of a spoonhandle and bowl. Out of the center of the latter peeks the player's head.

The road grays were perfect. I never thought I'd see the day we went back to the racing stripes, but I guess it is what it is.



Not crazy about the new blue uniform. I don't like the script.



I thought the black was ok as a once in a while uniform, but I certainly don't like the new version without the white outlining.

Per the Athletic. The six players who won the major awards last year - MVP, Cy Young, and Rookie of the Year - will wear golden MLB logos on the backs of their jerseys all year. Ten per player will be cut up and put on trading cards. This follows last year's practice of rookies wearing a special patch on the day they debuted.



Fanatics, of course, bought Topps and makes the jerseys on partnership with Nike.
