Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2022 Posted August 11, 2022 Are against the Braves, Phillies, Yankees and Dodgers, with one series against the Rockies. This is really the last tough stretch of games for 2022.After that, September looks as soft as a baby's bottom. Atlanta seems to do fine anytime they're not playing the Mets, so you figure we have to do our damage in the head-to-head games. How many will the Mets win?
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2022 Posted August 11, 2022 14!!Phillies 7 - (5-2)Skanks 2 - (1-1)Rockies 4 - (3-1)Dodgers 3 - (2-1)Braves 4 - (3-1)
roger_that Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2022 Posted August 11, 2022 If they can win 10 of 20, I'll take it. Even splitting with the Braves will be a victory of sorts.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2022 Author Posted August 11, 2022 I think I'd be fine with this:Phillies 7 - (4-3)Skanks 2 - (1-1)Rockies 4 - (3-1)Dodgers 3 - (2-1)Braves 4 - (2-2)12-8.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2022 Posted August 11, 2022 I'd even be fine with an 11-9, with a 1-2 against the Dodgers. Everything else as Centerfield put it.

kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2022 Posted August 11, 2022 17 would be so much fun! We're gonna need plastic surgery to remove our goddamn smiles! We'll be whistling 'Zip-A-Dee Doo-Dah' out of our assholes!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2022 Posted August 11, 2022 Got some pretty optimistic peeps here.13/20 is the rate that would most accurately approximate our season's pace to date. One could argue that the deGrom factor should ramp that up a notch or three but the counter would be that the level of competition should knock it back a few pegs.

I remember being so impressed with Ribant's magnificent skill levels, and then being so depressed when the team promptly swapped him out to Pittsburgh.
Bob Alpacadaca Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2022 Posted August 12, 2022 Something about the Phillies is a little scary, though the post-game interviews are interesting. Phillies 7 - (4-3)Yankees- 2 - (1-1)Rockies 4 - (4-0)Dodgers 3 - (2-1)Braves 4 - (3-1)
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2022 Posted August 12, 2022 The rotation has been soooooooo good of late. I expect them to go 13-7 in this stretch even against tough opponents.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2022 Posted August 12, 2022 20-0.WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 12, 2022 Posted August 12, 2022 It's all about going 1-0 over the next one with me.
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2022 Posted August 12, 2022 12-8 sounds fine. i get anxious about trying to predict out too small a sample, and worry muchly about angering the gods when i do so.
roger_that Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2022 Posted August 12, 2022 the thing about any number of losses, no matter how many or few they turn out to be, is that there's always gonna be one or two that were SO winnable....but that one where a crucial error, or wild pitch, or ball hit to the warning cost you a victory just eats you up.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2022 Posted August 12, 2022 Well, I guess 20-0 is out of the question.
roger_that Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2022 Posted August 13, 2022 And last night's was that one winnable loss.
