I was doom and gloom last year and was right. It's looking sketchy this year as well. The offense will be better, but everybody's offense will be better due to the NLDH. They're not out of spring training and already 60% of the rotation is hurt. The bullpen is arguably worse than last year (and it wasn't exactly a strength then). It will be a long hot summer in Flushing. Buck may want to go with the cotton uniforms.

Prove me wrong, Metsies.

I've got the Mets finishing in 2nd place with an 88-74 record and going all the way, winning the WS in six games. I dont really believe that but I like to go contrarian, even against my own beliefs. It'll happen because baseball's the last sport you'd want there to be expanded playoffs in because with all the luck in baseball, games played between two good teams are crapshoots and everybody's getting into the postseason this year. Jeez, the last eight seasons produced eight different champs. I bet that streak is a record. It'll also happen because Jake deGrom will be as well rested as any pitcher out there and in peak form come October. Alsonso smashes 40 round trippers. This team will hit.

1982 to 1990 saw nine consecutive seasons with a different World Series champ. Which basically coincided with the last time the Yankees had a championship drought lasting more than a decade.

That's either 1981-1987 or 1982 -1988-- seven straight seasons. The Dodgers won it all in both 1981 and 1988.

I forgot to include in my post, that that the Mets will be the 5th NL playoff seed, I predict. I can't just go back and edit my original predict the Mets post to fill that in because apparently, that would be a bad thing, for reasons that I don't have a clue as to why that is. Maybe the mods might wanna disable the edit post function so some people here don't go bananas whenever someone edits a post. Or whenever someone thinks someone's about to edit a post before it even happens. Which almost always, it doesn't even happen.

Yep! I can actually count, but thank you for condescension.

1978 to 1987: 10 seasons, 10 different champions

1. 1978 - Yankees

2. 1979 - Pirates

3. 1980 - Phillies

4. 1981 - Dodgers

5. 1982 - Cardinals

6. 1983 - Orioles

7. 1984 - Tigers

8. 1985 - Royals

9. 1986 - Mets

10. 1987 - Twins

1982 to 1990: 9 seasons, 9 different champions

1. 1982 - Cardinals

2. 1983 - Orioles

3. 1984 - Tigers

4. 1985 - Royals

5. 1986 - Mets

6. 1987 - Twins

7. 1988 - Dodgers

8. 1989 - A's

9. 1990 - Reds

You will notice that the Dodgers appear only one time in each of these lists.

Yes. But I wasn't condescending. Apologies for any confusion. I'm sorry that you took it that way.
