Maybe somebody could make a large donation to put the Ukrainian flag on the unis?

As much as I like this specific idea, I don't like the precedent of getting 'political' on uniforms.

You got some kind of problem with red "Mets Are Great Again!" caps with white lettering?

Either GE, Siemens or Phillips, the three primary manufacturers of MRI equipment, would be logical sponsors for the Mets.

Think of all the player testimonials they could use in their commercials.

The Cardinals feed I'm watching here has the Bally B as a watermark in the corner of the screen.

But that's for the network, not the team.

Bally's (a division of somebody, I can't remember now) bought out the regional FOX sports network contracts two seasons back

and so now have the local broadcasting rights to around half of all MLB teams.

When FOX decided to get out of the regional cable sports business Disney was to be the original buyer. But that was negated when it was decided that all those regional

channels plus the ESPN monster would represent too much of a monopoly. So when that divesture was ordered 'Sinclair Broadcast Group' and 'Entertainment Studios'

became the co-owners of the regional chain of sports networks formerly known as FOX Sports [your area here]. Bally's, it turns out, jumped in as a naming rights partner,

something the buyers needed to alleviate debt taken on with the purchase and I'm sure Bally's wanted it for the growing gambling/sports connections.

15 MLB teams (plus a similar percentage of NBA & NHL teams) are broadcast locally by stations* owned and operated by this network while others have outlets that are affiliates.

* not SNY, or YES, or NESN. MSG+ & MASN are affiliates

That video seems to imply that we should be excited about seeing a Motorola patch on the Padres' sleeves.

I suppose that's a better place than the front of the jersey, but it takes up real estate typically used for memorials and commemorations. What happens if Nate Colbert dies? Does he get squeezed under the Motorola patch?

Motorola US needs to fix their Twitter handle before getting on the Padres uniform. I was trying to figure out if Motorolaus was some sort of German syndicate.

It always looked to me like a mid-century modern logo for a European national airline. Looking it up, I'm not that far off, as it was introduced in 1955.

What it represents — and I wouldn't have guessed this — is a highly stylized M. I think it looks more like a stylized bird's-eye view of someone's cleavage in a cone bra.

In the design biz, it's referred to as "the bat-wing logo," which probably pisses Batman off to no end.

Also offensive to people whose nutsacks are stuck to the side of their leg, I would think.

I've always been able to clearly see the M in that logo. I don't think the patch itself is ugly (although it could certainly be smaller) the main problem is the fact of it. We're on the slippery slope.

You must have some really fun answers when you take a Rorschach Test.

At least they won't be the same sponsors since MLB would never get in bed with betting sites ... oh wait!

I hope whatever the Mets choose is 1/3 the size and three-times more tasteful.

That Padres Moto-logo is butt ugly and an eyesore.

Maybe the Mets can go with a portrait of Joseph P. Guryeb or Giuseppe Franco.

We seem to have nostalgia for the Mets sponsors of yore, at least to a degree. Manufacturers Hanover. Dairylea. Schaefer. Rheingold. Garcia y Vega cigars.

Will future generations feel the same way about current sponsors? I'm not even sure who they are anymore, since my MLB.tv feed of SNY telecasts overrides the local ads. From what I can tell, the only Mets sponsor seems to be Limu Emu and Doug.

If it was half that size, it'd be at least tolerable. And what about companies who don't have a circular logo?

Also, would this logo also appear on team store stuff? If so, I might want to get a jersey this year rather than next.

I don't like the idea of advertising on baseball unis, but if I was a Padres fan and in the market for a 2023 Padres jersey next year, I'd get the one with the Motorola patch. I like my jerseys to look just like the ones the players wear, whenever possible.

Just my preference.

NYP is an amazing hospital/ healthcare system, one of NYC largest employers.... Anyway seems a bit odd considering HSS is where they send players ... I think Alex Cohen has ties to NYP

Maybe, but that uniform patch is so eff 'n jeff.

And just the other day, we were mocking Miami's ADT patch. I'll bet the Yankees don't get a sponsored uni patch.

Yeah, the bright red is gonna be more distracting than the baby blue ADT the Marlins have. But I guess drawing the eyes is the point. It's going to harsh the uniform vibes sooooo much.

Teams have now been moving the club sleeve logo to the player's non-dominant arm so it's always facing front when they're batting (right-handed hitters have the sponsor patch on their left arm and lefties vice-versa). I wonder if the Mets will do the same. Maybe Lindor will wear NYP patch on both arms.

Really? I did not know that. So the same team will have its logo on both the right and left sleeves, depending on the player? Which teams did that?
