kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2022 Posted March 10, 2022 I don't know where to start, but have at it NOW!!!
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 11, 2022 Posted March 11, 2022 One of these NY beat wonks (Martino maybe?) theorizes that the Mets will not be players on Kris Bryant or Michael Conforto, but will instead focus on another starter, and more bullpen help, and bench depth. He threw out the idea that a one year deal for Kyle Schwarber might be more likely to happen given the potential shorter-term commitment it might take.I wonder if a trade isn't more likely - even with the DH in place we have a glut of marketable hitters on the roster, some of them disaffected.
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted March 11, 2022 Posted March 11, 2022 at this point, while i would love to see one of those hitters signing with the mets, i think it's more liklely that, if we're going to add more free agents, it'd be a carlos rodon. super-outside chance we take a chance on kershaw, though that's perhaps wishful thinking, and of wanting to see 8 cy young awards on one staff.i think a trade is most likely, with two of dom, jeff, and jd going somewhere like cincinnati or oakland in return for an arm. which could, well, open up some room in the lineup too...
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted March 11, 2022 Posted March 11, 2022 You know, I wasn't sold on Kershaw before the lockout, but HOLY SHIT deGrom/Scherzer/Kershaw/Walker would be something.

Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted March 11, 2022 Posted March 11, 2022 I'm with marathon on the likelihood of a trade with Oakland. Would love it if Freddy came to Queens
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 11, 2022 Posted March 11, 2022 Yeah, I'm predicting McNeil to Oakland.

Frankie Montas is the best but he has another year on his contract so he's the most valuable. Montas for McNeil might be close. McNeil for Chris Bassist or Sean Manaea (LHP), both FAs after 2022, is lopsided to OAK so the Mets would have to get someone else.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 11, 2022 Posted March 11, 2022 Carlos Rodon reportedly to the Giants for two years.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted March 11, 2022 Posted March 11, 2022 2 years, $44 million. That's more than I would have given him given his injury history, but we're off to the races.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 11, 2022 Posted March 11, 2022 Kershaw stays w/LAD on a one year deal. SS Andrelton Simmons to the Cubby Bears, also one year.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted March 12, 2022 Posted March 12, 2022 I was sure that Yusei Kikuchi was going to be a Met as he gave them a LHP. He won't. He's now a Blue Jay.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted March 12, 2022 Posted March 12, 2022 Kurt Suzuki signs for a year to be closer to thee, Noah Syndergaard, which is to say he is now an Angel.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted March 12, 2022 Posted March 12, 2022 Hmm...I was thinking that Steve Cohen spent all of the lockout just itching to throw money at players, but nothing yet from him, it seems.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 12, 2022 Posted March 12, 2022 Well, he had quite the feeding frenzy shortly before the lockout. We'll see.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted March 12, 2022 Posted March 12, 2022 Josh Harrison signs for a year with the White Sox.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted March 12, 2022 Posted March 12, 2022 And two years for Joe Kelly with those Pale Hose.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted March 12, 2022 Posted March 12, 2022 Lewis Brinson of the Marlins is now Lewis Brinson of the Astros.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted March 13, 2022 Posted March 13, 2022 Red Sox sign Jake Diekman.Twins trade for Sonny Gray.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 13, 2022 Posted March 13, 2022 Sonny Gray sounds like a confusing weather forecast.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 13, 2022 Posted March 13, 2022 Or the opening to the theme song of Sesame Street.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted March 13, 2022 Posted March 13, 2022 Nelson Cruz signs with the Nationals, because that's a team a DH can go to now.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted March 13, 2022 Posted March 13, 2022 In addition to grabbing Nelson Cruz, Nats sign Aaron Sanchez to minor league deal.
