cal sharpie Old-Timey Member Posted March 14, 2022 Posted March 14, 2022 Noah Syndergaard, Marcus Stroman, Rich Hill, Aaron Loup, Jeurys Familia, Brad Hand, Javier Baez, Jose Peraza.Might have missed someone but these are all Met free-agents with none re-signing with the team and I can't think of any that have re-signed. Michael Conforto, Jonathan Villar, Kevin Pillar still out there but this feels like an unusual occurence.

Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted March 14, 2022 Posted March 14, 2022 This Olson guy has Freeman-like numbers. Still Freddie is such an everyday kind of guy. Boy would the Mets rock with him aboard
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted March 14, 2022 Posted March 14, 2022 Reds cough up Winkler and Suarez to Mariners. Getting back Justin Dunn, along with Brandon Williamson and Jake Fraley whoever tf they are
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted March 14, 2022 Posted March 14, 2022 Andrew McCutchen moves on to Milwaukee.

Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted March 15, 2022 Posted March 15, 2022 Yeah, really surprised to see the Braves cut ties with Freddie. He better not wind up on the Yanx. Olson will probably torture us just as badly, though.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 15, 2022 Posted March 15, 2022 Yeah, I assumed FF's return was the biggest no-brainer of the off-season. He was extremely popular there (Duh!) both with fans and teammates, plus the whole coming off the WS thing and the MVP the year before, yadda, yadda.OTOH ... as unsentimental as it is, the Braves have a history of Not retaining players rather than risk getting hit with significant decline in the back-end of contracts.Andruw Jones was allowed to walk at age 30, Raffy Furcal was (supposedly) 27, plus McCann, Francouer, Klesko, etc. They got the cheaper years out of those guys before opting out of the expensive ones and have shown themselves to be right on those calls a lot more often than they've been wrong.Freeman is 32-1/2. Olson turns 28 next week.
Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 With Rizzo heading back to the Bronx, that's one less suitor for Freddy.

Winkler is a great add for the Mariners though, even if Suarez is a salary dump.I am friends with a Reds fan who is very unhappy right now, and I can't blame him.
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 The Braves also inked Collin McHugh for two years. I was hoping the Mets went after him. But it's fine if we still get Ryan Tepera.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 Not sure if this means the MFYs are out of the Freddie Freeman market, but they just re-signed Anthony Rizzo.https://www.mlb.com/news/anthony-rizzo-yankees-deal?fbclid=IwAR0ZUAeWDUTw8XD6Fbp84DbAZ-2IsmC5v_-7Dr8xpSsBkf60Jj8qA_ApeFUhttps://www.mlb.com/news/anthony-rizzo-yankees-deal?fbclid=IwAR0ZUAeWDUTw8XD6Fbp84DbAZ-2IsmC5v_-7Dr8xpSsBkf60Jj8qA_ApeFULater
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 man, the freeman/correa market is getting interesting.... somebody's going to end up getting a (relative) steal here. i think.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 Phillies sign Schwarber
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 Kyle from Waltham becomes Kyle from Norristown.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 Andrew Chafin, LHRP, to Detroit. This is noteworthy as the Mets need a LHRP and Chafin was considered to be the best one out there. I'm guessing that he will be more than the LOOGY in DET which might be why he is going there instead of Flushing, or he has some Michigan connection, but he won't be a Met.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 I gotta say, it feels to me like the Mets are lying in the weeds for Freddie
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 It'll take a lot of maneuvering to remake their roster around him.He smells like he's going to the Nats to me, sliding in at first base with Josh Bell moving to DH.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 Yeah, I think Kris Bryant would be a better fit, because he wouldn't push Pete to DH and Cano to wherever Cano would go.But I get the impression that the Mets aren't in on either of those guys. I hope I'm wrong.
cal sharpie Old-Timey Member Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 Freddie won't be going to the Nats. Nelson Cruz is the full-time DH so Josh Bell will have to keep his first base glove.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 Well, I missed that line item. Nellie Cruz is as DH-y as they come.
