  2. GET BACK HERE, ALL OF YOU. THIS ISN'T OVER UNTIL WE DECIDE IT IS.
  3. NOOOOOOOOOOOO
  4. Nah. Just win the next two and we're back on track.
  5. Just a few days after this cool story hit the wire: https://www.milb.com/milb/news/ryan-orourke-makes-his-pitch-with-fight-like-a-girl/c-308481428https://www.milb.com/milb/news/ryan-orourke-makes-his-pitch-with-fight-like-a-girl/c-308481428
  6. Hey, just win tonight. One game at a time is all you can do. Let's get these fuckers.

  8. PNC seems to get the "best park in the majors" tag, but I disagree. Views were obviously fantastic of downtown, but other than that, it seemed really cramped. Food options seemed kind of limited on the concourse - it was basically the same hot dog stand over and over, with a few specialty options sprinkled in. (The Pierogie Hoagie was THE REAL DEAL, though.) Friendly folks all around, though. Surprising number of jerseys and shirseys of guys you only kinda remember, too.

  10. TIL that his name is Starling Marte, not Sterling Marte.
  11. Fman and I representing all the way up in the upper deck in left field tonight.
  12. I don't think an extension is happening either, but I do think they give him a QA. I think they need to get them both signed long-term, though. If Matz is anything like what he's shown, then we've got a DYNAMITE five.
  13. Vic Sage wrote: Too bad. He had reestablished his value as a big league hitter. I think they'd like to have him come back by late September, if possible. If we're in the running for a wc, he'll be very useful. If we're not, it will important to showcase his health to the other teams, in preparation for the off-season. Exactly. Hurts either way.
  14. DON'T YOU DARE GIVE UP ON THIS TEAM, DAMMIT
  15. Frayed Knot wrote: I thought about Nimmo just the other day and realized how long it had been since I thought of him at all. Shame. Nothing that happened this season is his "fault," but goodness, 2019 would look different if he had all of Lagares' ABs.
  16. Unless we get some amazing players in return -- better than what we got in the last firesale -- I don't see the advantage in dealing Diaz. He's given us heartburn to be sure, but there has to be a way to get his back on track. Also, I think he -- not Cano -- was the centerpiece of that deal last year. Deal the centerpiece of that trade, and it's like saying "Yeah, we totally screwed up that one. Oops." I still feel mroe confident with him than Familia at this point. Absolutely. Diaz isn't going anywhere.
  17. I remember that he was mostly meh, had goofy hair, and then he threatened to beat up a reporter. I also conflated him with Claudio Vargas for a long time.
  18. Margot? Meh. If you want a Padre defensive fourth OF-type, BRING TRAVIS JANKOWSKI HOME, BRODIE.
  19. A Boy Named Seo wrote: Houston scares me because they're smarter than the Mets. Who isn't? The Mets are one of the dumbest organizations in all of baseball. And on top of that, they're cheap and broke. Yep and yep.
  20. Oh, you can replace them easily. Plenty of guys who would be happy to pitch for the major league minimum.
  21. https://www.blowoutcards.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Untitleddesign45.png> Topps has released the first images of their 2020 set.

  23. It all stems around the stupidity of the DH and the fact that it's two guys in the same "spot" in the lineup. Let's call that spot Pitcher/DH, or in this case Morton/Meadows. If the ESPN boxscore is right, then I don't think the protest will be upheld. * d'Arnaud moves to catcher, and Choi comes in to play first, batting ninth and knocking Zunino out of the lineup. Kolarek/Meadows replaces Morton/Meadows on the mound. Meadows is still the DH, batting for Kolarek. Still ten guys, we're good. * Chaz Roe comes in to replace Choi - I know, not technically, but so far so good, because you'd put Roe in his spot in the lineup. The problem comes when Kolarek/Meadows moves to first, because now they're are now both in the field at the same time but occupy one spot in the lineup. * So Meadows is out because you lose the DH, which means it's just Kolarek 1B in Meadows' spot in the lineup. * Then they switch Kolarek back to the mound, still batting in the third spot, and have Lowe replace Roe in the nine spot and play first. Of course, if we'd just ban the DH, none of this would happen.
