  1. Gotta be Riggleman for now, and then they'll try to reboot in the offseason once they've traded away all their usable parts and alienated what's left of the fan base.
  2. Fuck Adam Eaton. The main reason that MILBers continue to be exploited is that many of them are Latino and the MLB players' union doesn't give a flying fig and neither do the white MLB team owners.
  3. Lockett looked so good for six outs in Chicago. Then he truly became a Met. I have zero expectations tonight.
  4. And every time, we're like BUT THIS TIME IS GOING TO BE DIFFERENT! Look, they picked a non-traditional GM! Thinking outside the box! Gonna make big changes! Fuckin' hell.
  5. "Reports indicate that Olerud became increasingly agitated, verbally abused the restaurant staff and was asked to leave. The incident was triggered, according to eyewitnesses, by a failure to deliver the dressing on the side..." This was all pre-Twitter so do we really know if any of this happened but I recall he was heard screaming at the top of his lungs upon leaving, "I said NO FUCKING CROUTONS you fucking jerk wad!" Hey, Rickey Henderson once played with a guy who bitched out a waiter about a salad.
  6. It struck me last night that in the middle of June in a season where we were supposed to be contenders, we trotted out four guys who had like a combined twenty total major league innings before tonight (plus Gsellman). What the fricking hell? And of course, our guy making his major league debut gets lit up like a firecracker, and their guy making his major league debut looks like a fuckin' Hall of Famer out there, standing O after standing O.
  7. Jeez, that fell apart quickly.
  8. Holy moley, that kid can hit. That was a rocket.

  10. This is EXCEPTIONAL: http://www.banishedtothepen.com/casey-at-the-bat-2019-a-modern-retellinghttp://www.banishedtothepen.com/casey-at-the-bat-2019-a-modern-retelling

  12. I don't like Matt Carpenter or the Cardinals, but I *LOVED* that bunt double. Awesome.
  13. Well, I'll take the layup on Hank Aaron Altherr, then.
  14. 23 is Nolan Ryan Thompson.
  15. Nimmo shut down. Same bulging disc in his neck. Will see a specialist. I would have thought he'd have already seen a specialist. Ugh. https://i.gifer.com/8H5Q.gif>
  16. Wow. That's an interesting thought, and this is the first I've seen of it. I wonder if the slider thing is a trend; I don't really know repertoires around the league.
  17. Edgy MD wrote: That shot of Gooden rounding third is great. So much information is suggested to imply a bulletproof invincibility of the Mets. You're losing 7-3 in the third with the best pitcher on the planet facing off against you. And even thougt he's already spotted you three runs as a present, they're piling up runs against you early, and even Gooden himself is coming around to score, which should surprise nobody as the batter is hitting .342. And fuck the concourse. Every seat has an ass in it. Yes, batmags is right. He's scoring on a Keith Miller double, July 21, 1991: https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/NYN/NYN199107210.shtmlhttps://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/NYN/NYN199107210.shtml Maybe not the pinnacle of his career, but a solid season for a pretty meh fifth place team.
  18. Related to former AAAA 1Bman Brad Pounders? Gotta be. I could have sworn he was in the Mets system at one time back in the 80s, but apparently not.
  19. I'll coordinate and gather images.
  20. I love the hell out of this. KC and Detroit played a game in Omaha celebrating the CWS yesterday, and this happened:
  21. That sounds like a brilliant idea for an off-season competition. Love it. The correct answers, of course, are 1952, 1965, 1976, 1983, 1991, 2009, and 2016. And Topps already has my info several times over, so I submitted. The 1983-85 stretch is unquestionably the pinnacle of Topps designs.
  22. Fuckin' rain delay.
  23. Okay, now I don't like the direction this is going again.
  24. That delay definitely messed with Diaz a bit, but he seems to have found his groove.
  25. A disc of "School House Rock" covers came out around the same time, and I liked that one a little better. The Mr. T Experience "Adjective" and Blind Melon "Three Is A Magic Number" covers are the definitive versions of those songs, I think.
