  1. That was funny... Keith said he "just missed that one" right after it left the bat.
  2. Hey, the Reds just played that "everybody clap your hands" thing.

"day-o" is really bad. i dont understand the point of it. Yes, yes, yes, no, yes, and yes. I have a very weathered fitted blue hat and a similarly weathered fitted Connecticut Defenders hat that I wear almost exclusively, despite having a bin full of hats. I also do have the black hat, but I always choose the blue one. I am also a proud former owner of the short-lived white hat from the Masato Yoshii years; I also have (somewhere, although I have no idea where) an old blue hat with a very faded Sid Fernandez autograph under the bill that I got as a kid. ="Kid Carsey"]I like Lazy, I usually start clapping before TMOttBG is over. Sweet Caroline has no place anywhere, let alone Shea. I like the black road uni's. I like being in first place the most. I dislike stuff that has kinda been imported from Yankee games the last couple of years which I'm not going to waste keystrokes trying to list. Yes, yes, yes, yes, and yes. I'm a big fan of Lazy Mary; I enjoy its uniqueness to Shea. I'd bet they go another direction at the new place.
  4. It wouldn't lessen the appeal, it would destroy the appeal. Cooperstown's a nice little city, but really, there's not much else there. Yeah, you have your other museums and your opera house and whatever, but really? If you had full-time satellite Halls, nobody'd ever go to C-Town except for inductions.

Jefe: Oh yes, El Guapo. You have a plethora. El Guapo: Jefe, what is a plethora? Jefe: Why, El Guapo? El Guapo: Well, you just told me that I had a plethora, and I would just like to know if you know what it means to have a plethora. I would not like to think that someone would tell someone else he has a plethora, and then find out that that person has *no idea* what it means to have a plethora. Jefe: El Guapo, I know that I, Jefe, do not have your superior intellect and education, but could it be that once again, you are angry at something else, and are looking to take it out on me?

Montreal was a minor league city, back in the day. (Jackie Robinson started there.) So there's certainly history behind it. But FK's right; it's not necessarily up to MLB. I'm sure they can help financially if they want to make something happen, but it's really up to the local cities and ownerships.
  7. Fielder's a good bet, I'd think.
  8. Whoa! Juan Encarnacion is one of my secret favorite players... one of two guys (the other is Ryan Freel) with whom I share an exact birthdate, and a guy I always hoped would wind up a Met. Tough for him. That said, any article that gets to use the word "Coutlangus" is a good article.
  9. I can make them fit any definition I want, because I'm just some random schlub on the internet. If Bradford's dealt in the first year of a multi-year deal, he has the right to demand a trade in the off-season. Not that he necessarily would, but I wouldn't give up anything of substance for him.
  10. Edgy DC wrote: Back to the egg for Trax. Can they sneak Chad Bradford through waivers back to Flushing? Why, so we can have two mediocre middlemen locked up through 2009?
  11. Nothing personal, ladies, but you're both way too old for LoDuca.
  12. See? Was that all that hard?
  13. Billy, THROW. A. FUCKING. STRIKE.
  14. Can we trade for Burrell and then shoot him in the leg?
  15. Unless the Mets score four runs in the top of the ninth, there's no way Wagner doesn't go out there for the bottom of the ninth, even if it's three pitchers due up in the ninth. He's getting paid too much to give a save chance to someone else. (Interesting; Gary's just now raising the possibility that he might not come back out there for the 9th.)
  16. You know what, Billy Wagner? Get the fuck off this team. "Uh, I can't pitch if it's not a save situation." "I can't get six outs." Take off the skirt and GET THESE FUCKING GUYS OUT, DAMMIT. Nice K of Howard.
  17. Good move by Willie. Get the fucking outs, Billy. Win this fucking game.
  18. Word is that they're adding a fifth tier to Shea just for that game so they can sell an extra 22,000 seats.
  19. The Yankees, cursed by a Norse squirrel myth.
  20. Bah. Who needs pitching? We can rely on our red-hot offense to carry us. As long as our pitchers don't give up two runs a game, we're okay.
  21. I want to see them go out there and score 18 runs today. Just beat the ever-loving hell out of them. Sure, they'll have lost 3 of 4, but at least I'll feel better.
  22. I'd have gone with Gotay there too. But I'm not Willie, and this loss isn't his fault. Just go get 'em today, fellas.
  23. Will you people stop? We have the best record in the National League. Until there's a digit in the "GB" column next to "New York," everybody cool out.
  24. I hate Pat Burrell with the passion of a thousand fires.
  25. Considering "below-average mechanics" is about as unquantifiable a quantity as exists in the world, I'd say that stat would be both impossible and irrelevant.
