  1. I don't think they had planned to do that tonight, Edge, but since you mentioned it... sure.
  2. I believe there are other board members (and semi-former board members) in there as well... but I'm pretty sure their review of the book was that it was crap (there were a ton of errors in their articles).
  3. Milledge strikes out! Stunning.
  4. What do we need Romero for? It's not like there are any huge lefthanded hitters in our division that we need to get out in a big spot. Oh, wait.
  5. It's too bad Myers is a head case; he's going to blow up in a big spot down the road, and it's going to be ugly. I tried to warn Willie about leaving Mota in for another inning, but he forgot to log into the Pool between innings.
  6. How 'bout that Mota? One inning is enough, Willie.
  7. ="Edgy DC"]First thought upon waking up in the morning: "Why am I such a badass?" Incredibly, I think the exact same thing every morning. There goes my future as a minor league pitcher.
  8. My wife is sitting here ripping Heilman up and down (she's never been a fan)... but that really wasn't his fault. I don't even know that I blame LoDuca entirely; would have been very different if Jose Reyes had actually backed up second base the way he's supposed to on stolen base attempts.

Will post details when they are available. I just immortialized Tom Glavine at the expense of Jackie Robinson. I don't deserve a t-shirt. I don't deserve clothes of any sort, do I? And you immortalized Gil Hodges twice and spurned Tom Seaver's advances.
  10. You have to have a long man, especially when you have Oliver Perez and Brian Lawrence and a very human John Maine in your starting rotation. I'll keep Sele around for now, then leave him off the postseason roster, when your fifth starter becomes your long man.
  11. I'm pretty sure he's still under contract for another year, folks. So let him come back in September, hopefully win a game or two, then hopefully contribute in the playoffs. If he's healthy enough after the offseason to be a contributing member of the rotation next year, then that's great; if he's 6-11, 4.33 in 24 starts next year because of injury, then I don't think the Mets are going to be too excited about signing him to any contract, much less a June-September one.
  12. "What are those? Lilacs? Violets?" Funny. I really enjoy when all three guys are on the broadcast. Oh, and Billy, get the h-e-double-hockey-sticks out of the other team's bullpen.
  13. Ruth's 60th wasn't anything... do you know anything about it? I don't. Maris you remember, because he overtook a legendary figure and an unbreakable record. The tough part about Bonds' HR is that there's no distance from it to really see where it fits. It's obviously enormously historic, but also wildly anticlimactic... so was it "important"? Only time is going to tell that. You could make a case that McGwire's 62nd was more important than Bonds' 756th.
  14. I think Mulvey's definitely on the B-list of pitching prospects in the organization; he'll likely see major league action somewhere, it's just a matter of whether it will be as a Met or if he'll be dealt.
  15. Lastings Milledge strikes out! Stunning.
  16. David Wright is batting .400 with Jose Reyes on base, according to Miller. Now that's a stat.
  17. Well, shit. Carlos Delgado could have done that.
  18. Valadius wrote: I'd also like Beltran to contribute something tonight. Yeah, because he's really done nothing the last week or so. /sarcasm mode turned off Seriously though, you want it? Here's his chance. Fucking crush one, big guy.
  19. Jonathan Broxton enters, combining with Wells to set a National League record for most pounds pitched for the same team in one game.
  20. Joe Morgan: "That's what speed will do." Ms. Wolf: "Yup, get you there faster. (pauses) Moron. Sometimes I want to just grab Joe Morgan by the ears and shake him."
  21. I want Pedro as my shutdown 6th-7th inning guy. Just let him come in there in a big spot and get a few outs.
  22. Joe Beimel, sporting the uni #97. Neato.
  23. metsguyinmichigan wrote: Joe saying there are people out there saying the Mets might not make the playoffs? Who are they, Joe? Mostly Steve Phillips, who would deny that the Mets were in the playoffs even if they'd already clinched.
