  1. Ugly. Worse, because Fielder's pretty much carried my fantasy team this year, but that was really unnecessary.
  2. Yeah, but that's ESPN. You'd hope they'd have more important stories to cover than Fatass pitching to 18-year-olds. I'd like our flagship station to show this start; could be interesting to watch, and give most of us our first look at our own young guys.
  3. Hey! I'm surprised that nobody's jumped on the chance to own a piece of game-used bat from a guy who's 0-for-6 in his career! (Yeah, he has two career RBI, but they came as groundouts against Braden Looper and some guy named Jose Cabrera, so they don't count.)
  4. If only we could get Lastings to only step to the plate at home, after the break but still in July, batting seventh in the order, starting with a 2-0 count, with a runner on third with two out, in innings 4-6 but facing the lefthanded finesse pitcher from the Pirates or the Rockies for the third time. He'd probably be an MVP candidate.
  5. Nuts. Someone can feel free to fix my html.

  8. What, a third-place team picked up a big bopper? No worries.
  9. Confession: I really enjoy the Aflac goat commercial.
  10. bmfc1 wrote: Today's lineup makes me think of the weekday game against the Cubs when they made the fantastic comeback. Today's lineup reminds me of a late March game when they're trying to figure out if these guys are worth bringing north.
  11. DocTee wrote: Personally, I think he should go for Reggie Sanders. True, he's oft-injured, but that guy is like a guaranteed ticket to the playoffs. Unfortunately, he only has one ring to show for it, which was over the Yankees so it doesn't count, and a career .195 / .283 / 326 line, with 79 K's in 221 postseason ABs. Ugly.
  12. <--- Wayne Garrett?
  13. Agbayani?
  14. Ah, details. Sometimes I don't do so much reading. The award winner is Orel Hershiser? And how about Todd Pratt as one of the WS participants?
  15. Is the major award winner Jon Matlack?
  16. Kenny Kelly was the ex-college footballer who was in the Mets' system for a while.
  17. Bobby Bonilla, just before he was attacked by zombies, immortalized on his 1996 Pinnacle baseball card.
  18. Um... Marty? ]If you still doubt it, consider this: You could take Walter Johnson's 417 career victories, add the career victories of all the cup-of-coffee starters who never won a game and not approach Cy Young's 511 victories. Are you trying to say that 417+0<511? Congratulations. You can now advance to fifth grade math.
  19. Vic Sage wrote: ...but do these really deserve to bump off such classics as _________ (name your favorite overlooked masterpiece) "Baseketball." I've seen 20 of the top 100. (Obviously, my taste in movies tends to stray from the "classics.")
  20. Are you trying to say that Mariano Rivera is somehow better than John Franco?!?!? /sarcasm mode turned off
  21. Someone called?
  22. Why is it surprising that a gaggle of Mets fans like one of the iconic Mets symbols of our era? I honestly would have been stunned if the poll was any different than it is.
