  1. I don't even want to root against the Yankees. I'm honestly tired of rooting against the Yankees. I want to root for the Rockies or for the Indians or for whoever, but emotionally, I'm spent. These guys have sucked every baseball joy out of me the last few weeks. I'll follow, I'll post, and I'll probably watch, but I don't care who wins.
  2. Steve. Stop. Hijacking. Every. Thread.
  3. Steve, you're a nice guy... but you're just digging yourself a hole here. Shut down the computer and go for a walk.
  4. So we're not in it. Do you care any more?
  5. Steve Rogers, Merry Maid.
  6. His option, team's buyout, I believe. Or is that someone else? Did his option vest already?
  7. Yeah, last year was definitely worse. In spades. We knew coming into this season that the Mets just weren't as good as last year.
  8. Mex! Long time no post! Everybody's coming out of the woodwork today.
  9. And my nineteen-month-old son spent the ninth inning laughing at the dog while mom and dad moped on the couch, and when he went to bed, we asked him what book he wanted to read... and he walked over and picked up "Hello, Mr. Met." Because in his world, every game ends with a game-winning home run and Mr. Met climbing into his Mets pajamas and going off to dreamland. And that's a wonderful thing.
  10. Seeya, Willie. Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out. And yes, you can take Peterson and Rickey and Jerry Manuel and Sandy Alomar with you. I don't see any way this staff comes back next year. And I might be done with Minaya too.
  11. I think I'm just going to pretend this whole post doesn't exist.
  12. And the TV is off. See you in '08, Mets.
  13. Rotblatt wrote: The best-played game by the Mets that I've ever been too, even taking into account Reyes failing to run out his squibber (which, by the way, Willie absolutely should have benched his ass for). Maine had me believing, even though I knew his pitch count was high. By the fifth, I was thinking, "Well, if we miss out on the playoffs, but get a no-hitter here, I'd almost call it a wash." Amazing. I've never seen a better pitching performance in person. Crowd was in good form--lots of early support early. Great game, great win, and hope is alive! Hey Rott... any chance you got your hands on an extra pack of those baseball cards they were giving away today?
  14. Okay, we turned the game on. I can't miss this, as much as I hate this team right now.
  15. You know what, fellas? It's too fucking late for this shit. You're telling me they couldn't do this once, just once, maybe twice over the last two weeks? You can't score a fucking run in a big spot, steal a fucking base, make a smart fucking decision, get a fucking out in a big spot. Then, now, one fucking game from elimination, all of a sudden you score ten runs and give up oogatz? Eff you, Mets. EFF YOU.
  16. So, you mean: K 6-3 fo4 ? I'm turning the game off.
  17. Bye, playoffs.
  18. HahnSolo wrote: I'm glad they got all those postseason seats by the plate up in time. They can use them for the Billy Joel show next year.
  19. 1999 was awesome. Brad Clontz's wild pitch is perhaps my favorite in-person Shea Stadium moment.
  20. Can you go back and ask Steve Earle (or, for that matter, the father and son) if they can pitch?
  21. I hat baseball.
  22. David Wright grounded into a double play! Hey, that never happens!

    Okay

I can throw in spelling nerd too, if you'd like.
  24. seawolf17

    Okay

And technically... only three dots in an ellipsis. But now I'm just being a grammar nerd.
  25. Pat Monahan? The lead singer from Train released his new album last week, and the first single has a Metly reference... She's not afraid; she just likes to use her night light When she gets paid, true religion gets it all if they fit right. She's a little bit manic, completely organic Doesn't panic for the most part. She's old enough to know, and young enough not to say no To any chance that she gets for home plate tickets to see the Mets. Like everybody, she's in over her head, Dreads Feds, Grateful Dead, and doesn't take meds. She's a Gemini Capricorn Thinks all men are addicted to porn. I don't agree with her half the time, But, damn I'm glad she's mine. Her eyes, that's where hope lies. That's where blue skies Meet the sunrise. Her eyes, that's where I go When I go home. Wikipedia says he grew up in Erie, PA, which you'd think would be Pirates country. But I suppose nobody actually admits to being a Pirates fan.
