    Okay

Really? Just win tonight. Everything else will take care of itself... because then you're only talking about 2-2 over the next four. Just win, baby. By the way, this is my favorite thread in CPF history that doesn't involve Latvia.
  2. Well, I don't see how we can win if we're only going to throw eight guys out there. (Well, actually, that appears to be seven guys and an old lady.)
  3. Actually kinda creepy.
  4. You know what I always like to see? Guillermo Mota in the game. He always makes me feel so comfortable that we'll get to see a nice, long inning with lots of runs.
  5. Ryan Howard, tying the MLB record with his 195th K of the year today. Needless to say, 200 is not outside the realm of possibility. Oh, and it's 5-2 Nats in the ninth. Show me something here, Chad Cordero.
  6. I've always said you can never have too many Carloses.
  7. ="Nymr83"]put me back on ALL the hats! Literally, all the hats. I want Chief Wahoo peeking out from behind the interlocking NY.
  8. Dude, there is no talking in the men's room.
  9. /finally starts breathing again
  10. Very good comparison; this is where continuing his career and not being surly will push Griffey in, whereas Gonzo is still going to fall short.
  11. I have PoD2 for the Wii... it came really well-reviewed, but once I actually started playing it, it kinda disappointed me.
  12. Which you have to do in this case. Plus, you can't compare Reggie and Juan Gonzalez on all the other stuff; Reggie was larger than life everywhere he played, and Juan Gonzalez was... well, a Duck.
  13. At least until Daddy takes your T-bird away.
  14. I think Dale Murphy (and Jim Rice, and Andre Dawson) are no-brainer HOFs to me. (The voters have not agreed.)
  15. ]Dominican Summer League : OF PEDRO ZAPATA Height: 6-4 Weight: 185 Bats: R Throws: R Born: 10/3/87 Resides: Bani, Dominican Republic Obtained: Signed as an international free agent on September 12, 2006. Signing Scouts: Ismael Cruz, Ramon Pena, Juan Mercado Zapata hit .325 (52-160) with 27 runs scored, six doubles, five triples, 20 RBI, 23 stolen bases with 12 walks in 41 contests for the DSL Mets. Pedro also led the team with a .425 slugging percentage, and was tied for eighth in the league in batting average. In addition, Zapata was named the DSL Mets Player of the Month for June. [DailyNews]Quickly... cut Shawn Green and call this guy up.[/DailyNews]
  16. Wow. Why not just make the team colors pink and pink?
  17. You know? Now that I look at Gonzo's numbers... dude had some sick seasons. You do forget about it because of the injuries, though. And that's why he won't make it. Thome's still a better bet.
  18. Nah, it's more fun to debate it now. No way Juan Gonzalez even comes close to the HoF. Jim Thome will get more votes than he will.
  19. Oh, wait. I thought this was just the opposite of Elster's thread.
  20. Apparently, Ed Kranepool just runs around the New York metro area looking for people to meet. What a nice guy. Actually, I met El Sid in 1986, shortly after this game -- still one of my top five games I've ever been to; that might have been before either of those two other guys, I don't remember.
  21. Not enough for Thome, I think. He'll get votes, but won't sniff 75%. He'll be lucky to hit 40%.
  22. Either Terry Leach, when he came to my baseball camp, or Eddie Kranepool, who I met walking around a baseball card show at Nassau Coliseum.
  23. ="Zvon"]And personally I have not noticed any umpires. Z, they're the guys in the dark suits lingering around the bases waving their arms any time anything happens.
  24. I like this picture of Pedro.
