  1. Perhaps you could even spell "you're" correctly next time!
  2. Shifty, yes, but the Mets did have a BP catcher named Rob Dromenhauser back in the mid-80s... he came with Terry Leach to my baseball camp when I was a kid.
  3. But he's probably still saying the Mets will miss the playoffs.
  4. That was always part of my knock on Benitez, and part of my current knock on Mota. It seems like once they give up a hit, you can see them go to hell just by looking at them. (FWIW, that's my wife's problem with Aaron Heilman, too, although I don't see it.)
  5. Looks like she can. Can't find stats anywhere, though.
  6. "Say what?!"
  7. I've only left Shea early twice; once when we brought my wife's parents to a doubleheader in 1999, McGwire homered twice in the opener, but they couldn't hold out through game two, so we skipped out so they could get home. The other time was a few weeks ago; I was still recovering from back surgery, getting up and walking around every twenty minutes. After seven innings, I was just in too much pain to deal with the seats any longer, and/or dealing with sitting through parking lot traffic. We've left Ducks games early b/c of the little guy over the past two years, but I'd rather not go at all than leave early.
  8. I think Long Island, from Long Island, would argue that Queens doesn't count.
  9. Love him or hate him, Billy Joel might be as big a musical icon as Long Island has created. (Apologies to Lou Reed.) The guy has sold eleventy jillion albums, and if he plays fourteen Shea Stadium dates in November 2008, he's going to sell out every single one of them. So would the Stones, so would Bon Jovi, so would a lot of acts; keep in mind the stadium isn't about the Mets and who's a fan and who's not a fan, it's about selling an extra 800,000 tickets before they blow the place up.
  10. And now Keith is pegging fans with Tootsie Pops.
  11. No matter what the score, the topic of Keith Hernandez Eating Ice Cream comes up during every broadcast.
  12. I don't know that Wright would have caught that ball. And hey, even if we lose this game, it's a meaningless game to a pathetic third-place team.
  13. Ugly.
  14. Besides, "Some Kind of Wonderful" is one of the best songs ever.
  15. OlerudOwned wrote: I tend to wonder what life would be like if Hanley and Miggy were Mets and Reyes/Wright were Marlins. Because, honestly, the duo in Florida is probably a hair better. Someone evict OO from the Pool immediately. (Actually, he might be right, but don't tell anyone.)
  16. ="Edgy DC"]I think the music world needs a fourth Randy Jackson. That way, they could tour as the Randy Jacksons. "I'm not dead! I can play drums!"
  17. Unless you're taking the piss.
  18. Pretty catch by Carlos Beltran to end it. Looks like they fixed Willie Collazo's name on his uni.
  19. ="Johnny Dickshot"]="seawolf17"]And that'd be a typo (COLAZZO) on the back of Willie Collazo's jersey. Someone fire Charlie Samuels. Great catch! $$ for a screen cap. Easy money.
  20. And that'd be a typo (COLAZZO) on the back of Willie Collazo's jersey. Someone fire Charlie Samuels.
  21. Then the broadcast team (or the Mets' media notes) missed that Joe Smith AB the other night.
  22. Only the second Mets RP to pick up a plate appearance this year, IIRC from the other night's broadcast.
  23. And WHAM they do just that.
  24. How about a Home Run Derby to decide the winner? Each player on the roster, including pitchers, gets one swing. Most home runs wins. How great would it be for a fluke home run by Guillermo Mota to decide a playoff spot?
