  1. if delgado just dropped a bunt right up the first base line, even he would be able to beat it out.
  2. he's gotta have a little switch hidden in his glove that pops the hat off remotely, for dramatic and dazzling effect. and why is it every time a ball gets hit to shawn springyhair green i think it'll somehow end up as a triple?
  3. this just in: getting on base is really really important.
  4. i don't get the oliver's army reference, if there is any.
  5. beltran has stupid dogs, but a sweet car.
  6. rats! was hoping for some oopsie there, but encarnacion is just enough taller than belliard to make the catch.
  7. that song "jump around" helped turn around my running career. but that's a (not terribly interesting) story for another day.
  8. i like the sign the kid with the turquose face is holding. "you're wright" and he is.
  9. y'know, i like the cards with the black hats
  10. how the hell does green's hat fall off on that play, when he's practically just standing there? and, yay!
  11. well, that went far. for once, the pitcher shoulda taken the ball.
  12. two down. can't we have gotten a slightly more original crowd-toy than a towel-thingy?
  13. well, i'm only a bit nervy here...
  14. homme-made chicken soup oktoberfest beer tostitos in the bullpen
  15. Delgado 1.2 Green 0.8 Valentin 2.0 Bradford 1.0 Feliciano 2.0 Mota 1.1
  16. Reyes 3.1 Maine 3.1 Green 1.0 Bradford 1.1 Mota 1.0 Tucker 0.7

They're going to add at least one experienced starter (Schmidt, Zito, or the Japanese guy), and may retain Orlando Hernandez as well. Maine will probably be in the rotation, which would leave Bannister, Perez, Pelfrey, Humber, and whoever else competing for just one spot. Most likely: Glavine, Hernandez, Maine, Perez, Bannister. Pelfrey and Humber need one more year in the minors. Bannister gets sent down once Pedro returns. i'd retain hernandez as well, and try to bring in one of the best arms out there into the team. assuming duque doesnt show his age just yet, i would most pencil maine in as making the team next year, with perez and bannister duking it out for the final spot. perez has more upside, but needs to show next ST that he can harness it consistently to make the rotation. seriously. turn the stove off.
  20. we need a mets mythbusters squad.
  21. he can bump whoever struggles. you build the rotation without him, and when he comes back and can pitch effectively, he's a bonus. going forward, act like he's not there, until he is.
  22. if the kids do well, its a nice dream. now turn off those burners.
