of course the correct answer is to never have allowed the situation to develop in teh first place. you you allow chicken sacrifice in teh office? no. same thing with yankee paraphernalia. it has no place in a place of office, or learning, or goofing off at taxpayer expense. the first sign of pinstripes or interlocking n's and y's, and the employee should've had a long stern sit down with HR. no two ways about it. and if that didnt work, and the behavior continued, the employee should have been dismissed immediately. businesses just shouldn't tolerate such things.

i dont think its flawed either. i think we overvalue (or overvote, or maybe its right afterall) when a player wins a game in teh final at bat. and wright seems to have had a lot of "clutch" performances, while i don't think carlos has had quite as many. i also think that maybe DW benefits from a more difficult-looking position, and gets bonus points for defense while carlos tracks down distant fly balls smoothly, and without extra vote-culling attention. from a win share perspective, beltran leads wright 38 to 32, with reyes at 29 and delgado at 24.

i blame myself. clearly i had beltran as the more valuable met, but because of my inconsistency in voting, i was unable to sufficiently boost carlos into the position of primacy that he deserves. its neither david's fault, nor yancy's, that i didnt vote as often as i should have. the systems works. this particular voter, does not.

sorry. i was being unclear. 3 points for the closest to teh right answer, 2 points for next closest, and 1 for third closest. or going with a 10-4-1 (or 10-3-1) scheme would give you a wider spread, and more reward for getting one right. either way, i'm cool. my understanding going in was there was no minimum inning/game/pa requirement for any of the rate stats... adding that might help me, granted, but doing it with a requirement would i think force one participant into having an incompatible answer.

its certainly overblown. i remember way back in 01 or 02 i played around with teh numbers and i figured that his poor throwing cost the mets a grand total of about 10 runs or so over an entire season. which adds up to what, two, maybe three losses? it was an overblown issue at the time, especially in the contect of a long season. but in a short series, against a team that is equipped to exploit that weakness, the effect could be very appropriately rated. if the mets faced the padres, i would expect us to steal maybe 5 bases per game, and for some of those runners to score. that's where the difference can be made. against a slow, station-to-station team, its less of an impact.

a runner on second has a greater chance of scoring than a runner on first. a runner on second needn't be driven in on a home run, but can score on other types of batted balls, or can more easliy move to third where he can score without the benefit of a batted ball. a team only needs to lead by one run to win a game. successfully stealing bases increases your chances of leading by that one run or more. unsuccessfully throwing out basestealers likewise decreases your chances of leading by that one run or more.

you claimed he's been shitty. i think htat makes it your onus, but i can look it up later if i'm sufficiently motivated. the info i've seen says that peterson did indeed say something about 10 minutes with zambrano, but it was only to fix a minor flaw in his delivery, not turn him into the next sandy koufax or anything of the sort. and i wouldn't be able to find that now if i tried. maybe the wayback machine can be of some assistance...?
