    blah blah blah, compelling story blah blah. root based on some cockamaimie-nutso victory-glow scheme like i do! actually, i'll prolly be pulling for the tigers. i think i like them better. but if the cards do win, i'm going back to the 'mets are the second best team in baseball' thing. oh, also, if the cards win, we won't hafta hear all that shit about how far inferior the NL was to the AL - not that we should actually care about any of that.

    now, see, i believe in rooting for the team that beat you. that way you're less separated from the glow of victory. see, if the tiggers win it all, then can claim we're no better than the third best team in the majors. if the cards win, we could conceivably claim so. to put it more succinctly, if the cards win, then we're one team away from teh championship. and the yankees are two teams away. if the tiggers win, tehnthe yankees are two teams away, and we are two teams away. it all makes sense in my world, you see. and that's why i'll be rooting for the cards.

    this was a great game, and a good end to a great season, no matter the outcome. waah, we didn't win. so? are we suddenly yankee fans all up in flushing that our lives are empty and our team is an abject failure if we don't make it to, and subsequently win, the world series? we can't take any joy in a great season, a great postseason run, great play, great players, and great surprises? it sucks that we fucking lost, yeah. but we fucking got here. take joy in that. and get ready for next year. fuck yeah.
