  1. Interestingly, while his slash stats are better with Cleveland, his ops+ is higher with the Mets. Bbref also has him at 28.4 war with the Mets vs 28.3 with cle
  2. Baseball is the only sport where the athletes aren’t allowed to be excited for that thing they just did. football players do this every time they run into another person and knock them over. Which is really something a normal person would apologize for. you put a normal person on a pile of dirt and they buzz a 95 mph fastball past a major league hitter three times and they’d have jumping beans in their shoes too.
  3. 99 I like fun and joy. id tell my kid not to do it, but im totally ok with some dude who came from nowhere and fought and clawed all the way up from being a failed nobody nothing from nowhere into the doing his thing in the fucking major goddamn leagues and being ecstatic that he’s actually there, doing it. he’s celebrating that he’s made it, each time. And I’m ok with it. [most of the time]
  4. All things being equal the Mets are a better offense with him than without. however it’s possible the Mets are a better team with his salary applied differently… but I don’t see him opting out this year. Maybe next year, depending on what happens with the cba. But I really like the look of the offense and defense with him being a big part of it next year. And he seems to be becoming part of the culture of the team wherein we desperately need some newfound continuity.
  5. He’s a big tall kid. Homer last night against New England was quite a shot.
  6. I watched it last night a little. Was hoping to be there in person but we got bounced in sectionals. All of our kids were relatively normal-sized. :p bayonnes got a beast in rincon, as another thread just a little down from this one points to. monster home run last night to walk it off.
  7. I’m ok enough with this… I reserve the right to change my mind if other similar rental relievers net far better prospects. but shit I don’t care. We got an agbayani! Fun!
  8. I dunno… i think that as bad as stearns has been, do you really want to go into the trade deadline with an interim gm…?
  9. Good lord can this team maybe just… i dunno… choose not to play like shit?
  10. Steven Vogt Dave Roberts and Alex Cora enter the chat…
  11. Imagine how awkward it’ll be when the giants have to fire posey
  12. There’s so much more that needs to happen still.
  13. At this point, no player on the roster should be safe, unless they’re incredibly cheap and incredibly young. tear it all to the ground. have deep serious conversations to make sure that Soto and Lindor are going to be a meaningful part of rebuilding and reshaping what it means to be a met and how they fit into true leadership roles to the best of their ability and personality. and figure out where and why there is such a colossal communication failure throughout the organization. the whole team seems to be playing like they don’t actually know what they’re supposed to be doing. What the approach should be and why. Like they’re just doing what they think they’re being told to do and when it doesn’t work hey it’s not my fault. Maybe I’m projecting here… but there’s something inexplicably broken Throughout the organization. these are good players who just look… and play… lost.
  14. Watch Peterson regain his early 2025 form in 3.. 2.. 1..
  15. Holy shit, I have a lot of posts all of a sudden.
  16. Wow. They actually won the damn thing.
  17. Holy cow, Devin Williams is actually ahead of a count
  18. Yeah but it always just feeeels so tenuous. Like at times they score runs despite themselves. curious what their more clutchy stats look like. Are they notably worse or better with risp, and how does that shift compare to the rest of the league.
  19. I’d like to not have too many asses on the roster next year, but, well, if nice guys finish last, this current group of players must be just swell. And you’d think that would make them easy to root for, but that just ain’t the case. so I guess, yeah, let’s bring in a new batch of jerks.
  20. I particularly love #4 but would make a small change to it. -> every time a Mets catcher drives in a run, $800 to the foundation. Yeah Carter had pop, but I think of him as more of a run producer and this creates some separation from the preexisting home run donations.
  21. I was soooooo confused like holy shit NOOOOOO what is happening here they’ve both finally snapped and the new site is fucking dooooooooomed. Glad they eventually quoted the guy for context. I hate when people reply online to very specific parts of threads and don’t include quotes for context.
  22. Phooey. time to bring up wenninger…?
  23. This is the whole season right here in this series. if the Mets show up and show out, and fucking fight, - I don’t necessarily mean win, but fight, scratch, claw for it - then I believe they can pilot in another grimace run On the other hand, if they lay down, bend over, and/or get on their knees - then there’s simply no reason to turn on another Mets game this year. no pressure, guys. No pressure!
